My all time favorite flame Stephane Yelle. Always had a big appreciation for the guys who just leave it all on the line and do anything they can to contribute. Watching the blocked shots the faceoff wins and defensive perfection that yelle brought each and every night to me was more enjoyable than watching the Iginlas and Conroys light the lamp.
In my opinion he was the most valuable piece in the drury trade. Whenever i think of flames 04 hockey hes the first that comes to mind. Hes the face of what that team was all about and just a huge huge contributor.
Round 1 of the 2004 playoffs. Pivotal Game 4 with the Flames down 2-1; if they lose, they're down 3-1 and the series is all but over. Stephane Yelle comes back from injury and scores opening goal, which would become the game winning goal in a 4-0 win.
I remember this one time in the Sharks series in '04 where Nieminen took a slash or high stick to the throat and a delayed penalty was called but he shakes it off, steps up and blasts one. Liked that guy.

Niemenen was awesome in that cup run. Shout-out to Chris Simon for that run as well. Both of them could pot important goals and I guarantee the opposition pooed themselves a little when they saw them hit the ice for a shift.
Joel Otto was way more than just a role-player in my eyes...
Lance Bouma is doing a great job this season. I hope we hang onto him for a long time.

Otto was in a league of his own when it came to size, strength, toughness, faceoffs, and defensive ability. Plus he had a cool name
Looked up Otto's stats in 88/89 -- he was 4th in team scoring during the playoffs that year (19 points in 22 games) Not bad for a guy who was only 8th during the regular season.

#### yeah. Chris Simon scored the opening goal at home against Tampa and throws himself against the glass with the crowd roaring him on. There's a good photo of it somewhere...
And mind you this was in the playoffs where it was 'first goal wins' so that was as huge a goal as he'll ever get.
I think Sandbox Yelle sealed the clincher in that game too with a faked wraparound into a roofed short side shot. (The shot that beats me every time in EA NHL Goalie Mode.)
