Vasek withdraws due to injury against Wawrinka (too bad, he was playing well and taking it to Stan).

Good 90 points for Vasek to start the year, hopefully the injury is gone by the aussie. He has had enough runs in ATP events now that he is a legit top 40 player even when his rogers cup points are gone.
Wonder where/if Pospisil and Raonic are playing to warm up for the first slam next week.

Men's Aussie Open Qualifying Starts (today).
There are 4 Canadian men, Dancevic, Polansky, Diez and Peliwo.
I don't see Levine anywhere. Maybe he defected.

Dancevic and Polansky are through to Round 2, Peliwo and Diez lost.
The women start today, Fichman, Dubois and Wozniak. Fichman is the #1 qualifying seed just missing out on the main draw.

Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic are in the Sydney finals. I don't know why they stopped playing together, they had some great success together a few years ago IIRC.

it's pretty much impossible but if Genie somehow makes the quarters and topples Serena, I will literally jump out my office window and soar through the air using the power of unbridled joy.
I'll also be happy when Rafa takes out the trash first round so we don't have to read more about the Tomic family circus and his dad sneaking onto the grounds to give his son a fistful of encouragement. but at the same time I wouldn't want my favorite player to draw Tomic so early either. unlike the countless other scrubs at the bottom of the tour, Bernie actually has real weapons. he's only capable of using them like once every 50 matches, but you still would rather not gamble so early on when there's still a bit of rust on even the top guys.

Nestor and Zimonjic won the Sydney tournament beating the 3rd seeded Bopanna and Qureshi. That's their 25th title together, let's hope they keep it up at the AO as well.
