When did the High Fives start anyway? A couple years now since the lockout?

The Blues for me are the perfect team to do this. It'd be pretty great if they adopted a no-fun policy altogether. "Our motivation isn't fun. Our motivation is misery. Fun has no place within the walls of the Scottrade centre. When you play a hockey game against us, we want it to be the most miserable experience of your week. We take no pleasure in what we must do to you."

The fly bye should be reserved for big goals and big games. I'm not a fan of it for every goal, but I do like it.

I don't remember watching hockey and guys NOT doing the fly-by?
Granted I haven't been watching as long as a lot of guys here but teams have been doing it for a while haven't they?

Nothing wrong with a team celebration of a goal as long as it doesn't go overboard. Fist bumps seem totally appropriate.

I am all for keeping the game fun but how is having all 5 guys on the ice make a line and skate along in front of the bench, after every goal, by every team, every game, fun?
It is a lame waste of time.

I don't remember when it started, but it hasn't been that long. As for it seeming minor-hockey like, it literally grew from minor hockey. Kids were doing it and it slowly worked its way up to the NHL.
On a separate note, there was a time when the players on the bench were allowed to hop on the ice and join the celebration.

What? You have a right to your opinion that it's lame, but do we need to have a face-off 15 seconds after a goal? The league video reviews all goals so there's a little delay before the face-off no matter what you do. Let them skate by and celebrate a little with their teammates. It does absolutely no harm.
I can't believe people are actually against this? Is your day going that bad that you have to take it out on something like this?

What is with people over-reacting to everything on here?
I think the high 5 is lame, big deal.
I didn't bring it up, nor would I ever bother - it isn't at all important. But the topic came up and I said I thought it was lame.
I have never lost any sleep over it, nor am I having a bad day.
It's okay, we can have different opinions on the high 5 without anybody needing prescription narcotics.

Thank god. It was only a matter of time before some got seriously hurt. It contributes nothing to the game of hockey and has no place in it.

What a bunch of BS. You score as a team, everyone should get a fist bump. Things happen on the ice shifts before that cause goals. How bout the guy who busted his as to get the puck out of the zone, where's his glory? It is in the fist bump.

I said "people", not just directed at you. Your not as against this as some others, though I do find it puzzling that you dislike it at all, but whatever.

Okay, fair enough.
And not to beat this to death (probably too late), but dislike is probably too strong a word - it really isn't that big of a deal one way or the other.
Just always thought it was kind of minor hockey-ish.
But as you say, whatever.

Celebrate however you want. Yakapov across the ice if you feel so inclined. You scored, you choose.

When the team scores a goal, most of the players on the bench celebrate as well. Are they going to be banning this awesomeness:
Should the fans stop cheering too?
The canucks stopped high fiving the bench for a while in 2012.

That's not true. When is the last time you saw a team down by 3 or 4 goals score a goal and all skate by the bench to give high fives? Same with teams up by a few goals. It usually happens in a close game after a big goal, it's not in every game, after every goal.
I don't see the big deal. Unless it's way overboard. But usually they skate by the bench for a grand total of about 5 seconds then go to center ice to line up. It's not like it's holding up the game.

Let them do whatever they want as long as it isnt slowing the game down. You have roughly a minute to do cartwheels if you want as the officials grab the puck and report the score.
Furthermore, I like the high 5's with the bench and when the goalie skates to the bench to join in.
