In the NWT all school zones are 24/7 360 days a year. Kids play in them all hours of the day, especially during the summer with the midnight sun. Slowing down to 30 is really not that big if a deal.

It's more about the visibility of the image at a distance than the looks of the "kids" in the image. So there's some liberties taken to make them easier to identify while driving. Same for the senior's area signage.

Isn't there some rule that deals with how many road signs can be in a particular area and spacing requirements between signs?
There are spacing rules, but generally only necessary for high speed roadways. Urban areas the rules are relaxed at the "engineer's discretion". Generally every 50 m or at every light pole is considered acceptable at 60km/h. Since I doubt the City does such thorough reviews on every sign installed, if it seemed too cluttered a call to 311 could resolve it.

Mid-August you were praying to go back to school to get some new people to make fart noises with.
Yah...can't relate. I loved having 2 months off to dink around and do nothing.

And to the OP, thanks for the heads up. I honestly never even noticed any "All Year School" signs below the school zone sign. I'll definitely be on the look out for them now.

Well there were no kids visible so it didn't occur to me. I'd never noticed the all year school at the bottom before. Cops come out in force at the start of the school year but I never speed through school zones so it's never been an issue for me. But I only knew about St Monica, I had no idea that Our Lady of Lourdes was a school. I'd always assumed it was a convent, I sort of remember the controversy when they demolished the old building but I didn't follow it closely.

I think I might try to fight it. I have a perfect driving record and I heard a school zone ticket will make my insurance go up right away. The signage is very inconspicuous, I think it should be in fluorescent yellow so you see there's something different from a usual sign. I didn't even notice when they added it. It must have been a while ago because Our Lady of Lourdes has been there for several years, and I drive on 2nd street almost every day.
