Agreed
I have dreamed about a decent center for so long
Perhaps now those dreams will finally be fulfilled with Monahan

I believe in the Pony Power

Monahan and Sven are the obvious answers here - and I'm still very bullish on Sven being a star. I think those that are already downgrading his upside are doing so far too quickly. He has elite instincts for the game.
Another name I would throw out there is Wotherspoon - I think he could become a more important part of the future than perhaps we perceive. I would even go as far to suggest that if the Flames had a true #1 dman in the system (which they don't) Wotherspoon could eventually grow into the 2nd part of that #1 pairing.

Excited: Monahan
Intrigued: Jankowski, Johnny Hockey, Poirier and Culkin
Edit: I did not put Sven in because i have seen enough of him. He is going to be great.

I am most excited about any prospect that is in the Flames system.

Monahan and Sven are the two above the rest, but I'm pulling for Roman Horak and Max Reinhart to emerge as solid 3rd line players who can jump into the top-six in a pinch. I think both of them are getting great experience in the Flames system, and if they rotate between Cowtown/Abbotsford, they are going to benefit tremendously by having a similar style of coaching / strategy (hopefully).

On the back end it is definitely him. I don't know what it is about him but he just just seems to adapt. He doesn't come with a lot of flash but is a solid player. Going from barely making it on to team Canada to by tournaments end playing the tough minutes for Canada really got me excited.
For the forwards, I love Monahan. I think he is going to be that elite player. I am excited to see what he brings to the table with more skilled lines mates. Jankowski is right there as well. Very intrigued to see how he looks and plays with those extra 20 lbs since last year. I still can't believe that the is only a month difference in age between the two centers.

Gaudreau for me, biggest risk we have, but definitely the most intriguing.
I'm also gonna go off the board and say Eric Roy. Projected to be a first rounder last year, he dropped to the 5th round. I want to see if this defenseman can re-gain the momentum he used to have. Here's hoping that we find a hidden gem on the blueline.

Still only 18, he continues to grow. A shade more than six-foot-three now, nearly 190 pounds. He’s baby-faced — “I’ll work on the beard. It’ll be more like a Sidney Crosby beard” — and only a single year removed from his draft day.

Actually, I'm more nervous about a few players than I am excited. Are we overrating a few players? Monahan, Gaudreau, and Jankowski. I'm also nervous about Baertschi, mostly because of how he'll be used. I felt that last year he was given sheltered minutes to the point of him not being able to get the ice time needed to show us his skills. I'm hoping he gets more ice time, and the opportunities to be put in positions to score and show off his skill.

Just like Ian White with Lidstrom. Why did we ever let him go?
Just kidding. I know Lidstrom was special.

Ferland.
Has he matured? Has going back to the dub for the final year helped him? Has he taken the trainers suggestions to heart?
A 5th round pick that put up 96 points in 68 games in the dub is exciting. I just hope he can develop the way needs to.

Gaudreau. I think he'll be the best player of all our current prospects, other than Monahan who came in after I formed this opinion and I haven't seen enough of him to really judge. But I've been following Gaudreau a decent amount and I just don't see how he can't be an NHL star. Out of this world skills and vision. Can control the puck through heavy traffic, and has an NHL back-hand shot, which as Crosby and Datsyuk will tell you, can score you a lot of goals.

Roy is the one I'm most excited for too. I know he's a couple years away, but the fact that he fell from a 1st rounder in this years deep draft, to 5th tells me that he has more upside then people give him credit for. Players have bad seasons all the time. Hopefully his is an anomaly and ends up being a real gem for us. His bad season and fall in ranking, I think will definitely work out for us in the end.

If I could only pick one, it'd be Gaudreau. He's just really exciting to watch, and seems like a good guy who's (so far) made it against all odds. He plays the game differently, just really smart.
Jankowski 2nd, then obviously this years 1st rounders.
I have a good feeling about Gillies too. I think he's our next home grown starter in a few years.

So many intriguing prospects now that its hard to choose one to be most excited about.
Other than obvious choices, I'm fairly excited about Brett Kulak. I think he's got TJ Brodie version 2.0 written all over him.

20 lbs on a tall guy isn't that far fetched especially if he's been going a lot of core strength training. You would be surprised how much muscle weight you can put on by building your quads, glutes, hamstrings.

I worry a little about Sven as he and Hartley didn't see eye to eye last season and as long as the GM is here so will be the coach and ideally you don't want to waste these years of his developement bouncing him around the lineup and hurting his confidence. He needs to mature a bit and the coach needs to do a better job recognizing how to handle him.

In my mind Baertschi has already graduated from Prospect to Rookie. Hopefully Horak and Reinhart will join Baertschi in the promotion from Prospect to Rookie. With the addition of Knight I expect him to be on that list too.
Monahan is the prospect I am most excited about because of all the obvious reasons; high potential, possible franchise center. After that I can't wait to see what's going on with Jankowski. If we are lucky, he will develop into what Feaster and Weisbrod promised us and essentially give us two #1 centers.

Thanks for the video, Poirier just went up the list for me.
Prior to the draft I would have said that I am very interested in seeing the development Wotherspoon and Ramage. For some reason I think those two guys are going to be a one-two punch for the future of the Flames and when you throw in Sieloff, I think we are going to have a solid, gritty, D group that can move the puck and bring loads of character/leadership.
My other intrigues would be to see if our longer term projects can pan out, such as Nemisz and Howse. I really hope both of these guys show up hungry to prove themselves.
