Crap this sucks. My cousin who works at shaw is finally moving out from my basement. Well he hasn't actually stayed here more than 10 days in the past 3 years but he finally bought a condo and has to switch!
After 7 years I finally have to start paying for internet and cable again! Is there a way just to get HBO as a single channel? or is it part of a package? and boooo no more free porn channels with the nastiest looking chicks ever....
Ohhh and same with AMC. Can i just order than singlely?

Shaw employees get all the tiers (including PPV - like porn) etc... for free? I find that hard to believe... why not just keep stealing it? Or he was footing the bill?

Shaw employees do not get services for free. They do get a discount though.

They don't get PPV's but they do get all the porn channels, and all the foreign language channels. PPVs were half price.
Yeah he was footing the bill. $60/month for all that.
oh it's the non ppv porn channels like 371,372,373,374. 80% of the time thought the chicks were pretty damn disgusting though.

They certainly do, my buddy is a tech there and he has cable, Internet and phone. Pays $40/month - trust me, he doesn't have a low end bundle either.

The guy was only there for 3 days in three years and was paying the cable bill?
He'd have a place for life at my house.

$40/month still isn't free. It's exactly what I said, a discount.

Yeah. He was at his gf's most of the time, except when her mom came to visit. Oh he wasn't paying me any rent in the past 3 years he wasn't around. He just paid the cable bill.
i was offering him $100/month not to change his account. but then he would have to sign up with telus. so no. haha

Sorry, I was confused. It sounded like you were correcting me.
$40 sounds low though compared to the other folks I know.

If you need to buy a Shaw Cable box/PVR expander let me know, I've got one I don't use since I cut the cord.

thanx for the offer but i bought the gateway and 3 portals about 10 months ago and never activated it yet since the shaw account was under his name. when it switches back to me i will finally use the gateway.
Put it up on the Buy/Sell forum. i'm sure you'll get rid of it in a day.

Shaw employee plan is about $90 a month for BB25(I think) , I think, all channels and whatever the best phone plan is.
Wife worked there for 10 years until about 18 months ago, which is why I don't know for sure which Internet plan they currently get, before it was just regular high speed I am pretty sure.
edit: To clarify with current info, $40 employee price is for cable only, with BB50, the current pricing is $115, with all channels and phone.

The Shaw Internet package for students is unusable IMO. The down speed is fine but .5 upload in 2013 is awful. The price is obviously awesome but it still needs to work. I'm considering switching to Telus.

MMF, which model # is it? Is it mpeg2 or mpeg4? If it's the 4, shoot me a PM with your asking price.

Better yet, tell them what you are not wearing, and then invite them to skype

So.... Shaw sucks. We've had a pretty good package for awhile now, some chick phones up and tells us we can get a deal o our package. The wife took her up on it, and all of a sudden some channels have disappeared. We got on and said WTF? (only nicer). The dude says he'll look into it, gets back to us and says he'll put them back for more than what we're paying now because we had a "grandfathered" deal. After we protested, he said he would do it until the end of the month, I said do that, but if my bill goes up, we're done with Shaw.
Am I going get what I had here or am I going to have to switch? I've heard rumors that Telus doesn't work so well here. I could inventory what we watch and use Apple TV instead, but I think that might end up being more in the long run. Any advice?

They tried to get me on that too. The offer basically cut my TV down by 1/3 of the channels, downgraded my internet speed, but added home phone. I asked why would I do that, and his response was "well, it is $2 less a month, and you get a home phone!"
No one wants home phone shaw!!
