How come Iggy has only one line across his forehead now when he had 19 with Calgary?

It's likely because you have an Ad-blocker installed. You have to white-list video.ctv.ca to enable ads to play prior to the video so it can get to the main video.

If the video isn't working for you guys you're probably using adblock. If you pause adblock while on the tsn video page it will work
EDIT: haha yup beaten

Does anyone think Iginla would make a good coach when he retires from playing? Hadn't thought much about it til now, but he's so well-respected and well-mannered that I'm sure he'll get an opportunity.
I'd be worried that he's too nice etc, but then I've never played against him & I don't imagine he's so polite when he's on the ice...

Not the first time we've heard it, but can this please put to bed the "how do you know, we're you in the dressing room" comments from folks when people say Iggy wasn't really a vocal leader.
|
Not necessarily. Just because he's taken a certain role on a Pittsburgh team that already has an established leader and captain in Crosby and alternate captains in Malkin, Kunitz and Orpik doesn't mean that he took the same role as the captain of the Calgary Flames.

This post has nothing about Jarome other than I hope he wins the cup, but I couldn't help but notice how skinny James Neal looks.
I had to check his stats and it says he is 208 pounds. He looks as skinny as me and I'm no where near 208 pounds. He looks 160 lbs.
Carry on.

Right, except every team mate and coach he ever had in Calgary that has bothered to talk about his leadership style in public has said the exact same thing...........which was the point of my comment.

Personally I am not going to get to wound up about what was said/not said in the video - these things are all lovefests.....Iggy brought it on the ice and that is all that mattered to me

Jarome seems to be in a completely different role as it relates to leadership with the Pens, and righfully so. They have the best player/leader in the game already. I think Jarome is just lower on the totem pole in Pittsburgh, and he's just fine with that. In Calgary he was right at the top, which meant he had to fulfill a totally different role with the team.
As far as being a quiet guy goes, Joe Sakic seemed like a quiet leader and I've never heard anyone question his leadership abilities.

I doubt it. He just doesnt seem like the type. I get the impression that for the most part, he just lets people do their thing.

Why would they? Multiple Stanley Cups and Olympic gold medal as captain. Iginla's entire career as captain has resulted in annual failure whether it be first round elimination or missing the playoffs entirely. He does have one trip to the Stanley Cup as his lone shining accomplishment as captain. That's it. Big difference. In fact there is a massive difference between the careers of Joe Sakic and Jarome Iginla as far as their results as NHL captains are concerned.

Not as a captain. But as a huge contributor. Unless you mean an 'A'. Same can be said about Iginla in the Olympics.

On a team that was owned by one of the richest owners in the league and bought any player they needed to compete. I loved Sakic as a player but compare the surrounding cast of players when you compare careers. I would actually say Iginla's run to the final and loss in seven was just as impressive as Sakics winning of two cups.
Oh, and Iginla has more Olympic Medals than Sakic as mentioned above, funny how that works when they are placed in the same class of players.

I'm talking about personality attributes more than anything, as far as a quiet guy not being able to lead a team (as some would suggest).
As far as accomplishments no one can deny what Sakic achieved, but I think when you look at what he had to work with compared to Iginla there's a pretty stark difference there too. That's a debate I've been in far too many times and don't wanna take on here.

Maybe I just have a case of the dumbs today, but I am having trouble with this post.
Iggy took a team that had no business playing 25 games in the playoffs and led them to the finals, and along the way he was the bat player in the world for 3 months.
Joe on the other had almost always had an all star cast to work with.
If you are placing joe much higher than iggy because of his jewellery then I think it is an unfair comparison.

One thing about quiet respected leaders is that when they do say something, people listen.

I can't divulge too deep into their individual personalites attributes seeing I've never shared locker room time with either player. I imagine there have been a lot of quiet leaders in the locker room just as there have probably been a lot of in your face leaders. At the end of the day all we have to judge them by is the results of their teams.
