I tend to view unions the way Churchill viewed democracy, the very worst way to run things except for every other way, if we didn't have unions, for all their faults and I'd be the first to admit they have many, we'd be pulling bodies out of collapsed sweat shops while probably using 5 year old kids to squeeze into the cracks.

Not every business needs a union. Not every industry needs a union. But god help us if unions ceased to exist. Wages would plummet, workers rights would be meaningless and the average worker would have no way to defend themselves.

I manage a shop with two different unions. The one union is full of horribly entitled members who try to get away with as much as they can, and the other is very good at what they do, and at times I forget that it's a union shop because it just never comes up. We operate like a regular business.

I'd say the membership of both unions are both predominately right leaning.

Yeah, I've belonged to a union most of my life and it's surprising that a lot of union members don't know which side one's bread is buttered on. Of course with my politics, you could say the same about most of the population.
