would not want to be the team finishing 4th to last with the new lottery system

The Habs score (Eller) to make it 3-2 Washington with just over three minutes left in regulation but could not tie it up. The Capitals win their fifth straight game.
On the opposite end, the Senators have lost their fifth straight game as the Lightning hang for the 3-2 regulation win.
The Sabres score, 3-1 for the Jets.

I think this is how it will unfold as well.
Florida have been playing better and could possibly overtake us again. Colorado is a disgrace to the game of hockey and will finish last. Tampa with a win tonight will be 4 points up on us (though we'd have a game in hand). Carolina however is doing unbelievably bad. Since Ward has gone down I think they've only won that 1 game in the last 13 games (I forget when Ward went down).
Even with the Flames schedule and terribleness I see us with potentially 4 wins if not more.
Hopefully one of those 3 win the lottery though, it would suck to be pushed out of the top 4.

Sens lose. They better pick up their socks if they want to stay at the sixth seed.
That means Tampa wins! Good for the Flames I suppose

4 wins? You are dreaming. Flames get 5 points at best.

The Flyers lost tonight and the Predators and Sabres are on the brink of losing their games. These are teams that could fall into the bottom five and the Lightning did win their game.

Who knows, if Carolina wins a game or two they have enough talent to turn it around. And they can't lose forever... right? They are not a bad team and even have decent goaltending, but this slump is epic and with only 9 games left draft pick wise they are losing at the right time.
I've watched Florida a couple times since this draft pick watch started and they are the worst team in the league in my mind talent wise aside from Calgary but they are younger, Huberdeau is great but so green. They're trying hard and getting some breaks right now but even when they win they look desperate to hang on and a little lucky to score.
Colorado over 82 games would not be in last, they have just quit on their coach. I bet they keep Sacco around until the summer unfortunately and that means continued suckage.
Calgary could quite easily lose out the string but if the vets put their shoulders to the wheel they could also win 4-6 games.

Edmonton, Nashville, Detroit, Minny once. Perhaps even the 'Yotes.
We'll know what it's like when all our home games are done because we finish the year on a 4 game road trip against the Wild, Hawks, Blues and Preds. We ain't winning any of those (maybe Nashville because they suck).

They might slip out of the top eight soon. I think the injuries have finally caught up to them.

I was going to say that, but I feel they'll stay in the playoffs. I'm not sure when Karlsson will be ready, but his return should provide a huge boost for them.

Just like that. Stamkos ties Ovechkin in goals. I'm pulling for Ovi to win the rocket.

my best guess at this point would be
Colorado
Florida/Calgary
Nashville (played 2 more games than everyone else)
I think the bottom 3 teams are fine whichever way the lottery goes
the American teams (especially Colorado) probably want to take Jones

Blues pick is now 20th
No longer much of a concern of them missing the playoffs, but rather the Blues winning too much

The Blues and Blackhawks each win their respective games by a score of 1-0. The Jets win 4-1 and early in the third period, the Stars take a 2-1 lead.

The Stars look like they will win this game as they now have a commanding 4-1 lead over the Kings. The Stars will take over ninth place, just two points back of Detroit and five back of the slumping Wild.

Just got back from the Canes/Pens game. The Canes are a trainwreck right now, but it was nice to see Iggy play in person for the first time in 2.5 years.
I took a bunch of pictures of Iggy during the warm up and I'll try and post them tomorrow.

Wow, 3 SHUTOUTS on the OOT. Bobrovsky is a hot goalie right now for the BJs as they win 4-0 over the Sharkies. The BJs have the Sharks number this season. Elliot gets his 2nd shutout in a row as the Blues win 1-0 over no offense Nashville. The Bhawks win 1-0 in a non wild game over Minnesota. The Capitals and OV are coming on strong by beating the Habs 3-2 in reg time. The Jets stay in the hunt with the 4-1 win. Go Islanders, that was a nice 4-1 win over the Flyers. No surprise for the Penguins beating Carolina 5-3 as Kirk Muller sure wishes he had Cam Ward back. Dallas also stays in the hunt with the 5-1 win. Lehtonen was injured in this game, Bachman took over. The Senators got ripped off the bonehead officiating in Tampa. Those refs shouldn't be allowed to work in the playoffs, it was terrible with pathetic calls. Tampa won because of that 3-2 in reg time.

I got ripped on this board a few months ago when I stated that the Islanders are closer to a playoff spot than the Flames. Oh well, in this case, I wish I wasn't right ...
