I havent spent much time looking at Pitts roster, but shouldn't they be stocking up on defense, not forward?
I guess when you have the puck 90 percent of the time it doesn't matter. But it seems they could use help on defense to help cover the inconsistent goaltending.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 29s
If Jokinen plays 25 per cent of PIT 2013 playoff games AND PIT goes to Cup final, CAR gets 7th round pick from PIT

If Jokinen plays 50 per cent of PIT 2013 playoff games AND PIT wins the CUP, CAR gets a 6th round pick from PI

Decent depth pickup for cheap. Good move for PIT, especially if Carolina retained some salary.

Sure is a sellers market when a former 40 point guy could have been had for free on waivers and needed salary eaten to be moved........media B.S.

So basically Carolina gets nothing unless Pittsburgh reaches the final and Carolina is taking on part of the cap hit?
They really wanted to get rid of the guy.

Nice pickup for my beloved Pens.
As i stated in the Iggy's first goal thread, TK on the 1st line is pretty bad, but the right move to let the 2nd / 3rd line gel. Jokinen is significant upgrade as a stop-gap.
In addition, he's a pretty big upgrade over Glass on the 4th line and a good face-off guy. In 09' run they double shifted Crosby / Geno a lot on 4th line with Satan while dressing 7 D to create an additional threat. I don't see them dressing 7 d, but I think you will see Crosby / Geno double shift on a line with TK / Jokinen which could make even the 4th line a problem for teams

First year they've gone into season with some cap space because of trading Staal / Michalek and then missing out on Parise (might have been a blessing in disguise). In addition, we've been lucky enough to have some guys take lower than market price to stay aboard which has been quite helpful . They're probably going to lose some role players next year though, which I guess might be motivation behind the "f it let's win it all now" mentality Shero seems to be having.
After the 2014/15 season things may get rough with Malkin, Letang, Sutter, Orpik, Kunitz, Niskanen, Despres all becoming free agents.. They obviously will have some decisions to make then...

I haven't once looked at their cap situation but just find it remarkable that they have been able to add all these guys and still have been able to remain under the cap. Shero is a genius - but, like you said, it's cup or bust this year for them.

Prorated salaries too on all these rentals
Iggy, Morrow, Jussi, Murray, Eaton's real cap hit = 17.325 mill. Because have their prorated salary.... They have only accounted 5.712 mill against the cap
