Is this a Jeopardy style question?

"The answers are in the room" for $1000 Alex.

Alex, Why have the Flames been a terrible team for the past few seasons?

Sure, if Feaster said this, then you could have a valid argument. At the very least Hartley is just doing his best to, you know.. try and coach. What do you expect him to do now? Quit?
Exactly, he's the head coach not the GM. Glad he said that. Saying anything else is him copping out and blaming someone else for the teams failure.

I would love for him to call out the players while throwing a tantrum.

Enough of this "stay positive" BS. This isn't intramurals.
Because throwing a tantrum will do anything. Tantrums don't work when kids do it why would it work when an adult does it.

As for the quote, as a coach he has to work with what he's given. He has to believe that the answers are in the room because its the only thing he can control.

Alright guys just arrived, where is my paper bag and corner to curl up into?

Frig, relax. He is a coach, what do you want. You think he doesn't see what we see?

Judge the GM up, not down. He's the guy who has to fix this, or if he is being blocked resign. I'm not getting worked up over Hartley's comments, he'll be around the babysit next years plate of vomit. So cut the guy some slack.

MMF hit it.

Not in my wildest, most cynical, most sarcastic, could I have ever thought that Hartley would use the same, utterly indefensible, line Feaster tried to sell last year, to explain a last place team.

It's utter garbage and should be treated that way.

Joke of a franchise to come out with that.

See, I disagree. I think Feaster is doing the job he was hired to do as well. I doubt he's being blocked. To think he was hired as GM if his intentions were to overhaul the roster and rebuild is silly. Hartley's on the same page with Feaster, who is on the same page as King, who is on the same page as ownership. I get no sense of conflict or tension over someone being blocked from doing what they think needs to happen. Everyone is united in their approach.

The coach can say that because the answers are in the room! He can't make trades!

Totally agree, it's a slap in the face to the fans if you ask me.

The worst part is that he said that there are no other solutions.

The answers are in the room. But the question is "What group got me fired from this job?"

Sounds like a coach and/or his staff thinking about the lifeboat, throwing their hands in the air, thinking they've done all they can.

This could be either due to the fact he or one of his staff thinks they might be pushed out sooner then they'd think.

The answers are NOT in the room! Have some intellectual honesty!

Getting so sick of this franchise. As soon as we signed Begin I knew this team was heading in the wrong direction. Not necessarily because of Begin but because the philosophy of the team hasn't changed at all. Bring in old bums and let our AHLers rot.
I'm not an apologist for the team, and am glad they lost because the only real option long term is to get a high draft pick and rebuild. But I think he's referring to the lack of effort and the results. Hartley isn't the GM. He can't say they're going to trade a bunch of players. His job is to coach the players the GM provides, and I think in this case he's referring to nothing but the players lack of effort night in and night out. He's right, they do have to find the motivation on their own.

I'm ok...with keeping it with a "canned" answer....not ok if nothing happens over the next 11 days.

Something has to give and I agree with Hartley....it's in that room.

Depending on the question that he was asked, that may have been the only response he could give ("So Bob, do you think it's going to take a major trade to turn things around, or is the solution in that room?"), but why on earth would the Flames tweet that quote?

Wouldn't surprise me if gelinas goes rogue like Lowry and tries to salvage a career as an assistant.

Of course he is, he's telling the players to look into the mirror. But somehow using different words to express the same idea (the players didn't play well) justifies a huge overreaction I guess.
