For TV, it'd have to be when Tony offs his cousin in the last season of The Sopranos.

Movies:

The end of Saving Private Ryan when Tom Hanks is being comforted by Matt Damon as he dies and he looks at him and says "James. Earn this". Damn. Gets me every time.

Towards the end of 12 Monkeys when Bruce Willis figures it all out and realizes that as a child in the airport, he actually witnessed his own death.

Full Metal Jacket - pretty much the whole movie.

Oh and all of Band of Brothers. HBO rules.

Agree, totally. Especially with 'Where's My Mind' playing in the background. That gave me a shiver.

When Jenny dies in Forrest Gump. That gets me every time.

I can't believe someone mentioned 'The Never Ending Story'. I had totally forgot about that, but that scene with the horse traumatized me as a kid. So sad.

Another more recent one is Batman begins, when Batman is tearing through the streets of gotham in the tumbler racing against time to save the girl. That scene made me shed a tear in awe.

STAR TREK TNG All Good Things... Part II - Picards last quote at the poker table, "aces are wild, and the sky's the limit"

So many LOTR moments:
-The ents march on Isengard
-The ride of the Rohirrim on Pellenor Fields
-When the signal goes off at Minas Morgul and the army starts marching out, the shriek of that Nazgul, especially in theaters was amazing
-Faramir's futile effort to recapture Osgiliath, and then the Nazgul swooping down on them during their retreat - addition, when gandolph hits the light beam and the music plays, as well as the hobbit singing
-when gandolph arrives on the 6th day, at dawn, looking to the west... or whatever it was to save them @ helms deep

Star Wars.. to many..

I'll echo Ironhorse's sentiment about the hand in Signs. Gave me a chill just remembering that. Second best alien movie ever made. After, well, Alien.

The phonebook soliloquoy in American Splendor.

In Willard, where Crispin Glover is at his mother's funeral, just spewing snot and tears.

From Rushmore: "She's my rushmore, Max." / "I know. She was mine, too."

TV:
last scene of Blackadder, the WWI season.

First one that sprung to mind was in the end of Trainspotting where Renton is walking off with the money and Spud is shaking his head "no-no"...

The Usual Suspects when the cop drop the coffee cup and you start to realize who the Kaiser is, is another good one.

Another great one is inThe Professional where he blows himself up with the grenades at the end.

Do Wonder Years re-runs come on here at all?
I was just in England, and they had re-runs like twice a day. I can't find them here though.

Pay it Forward -

When Trevor is stabbed after defending his friend from the bullies. The subsequent scene where Eugene and Arlene find out the doctors can't save him and the candle vigual begins with the cast. I bawled like a baby and was an emotional wreak after watching that.

Field of Dreams when Costners character realizes that the "ghost" catcher is his father, but the father doesn't know Costner is his son.

"hey da.....ummm....wanna have a catch?"

Great movie with a bunch of memorable scenes.

lol! Great call on the Transformers movie. One got used to the television cartoon where no one actually got killed. Suddenly you got to the movie and most of the original guys are all killed in the first 10 minutes. Fantastic!

alrighty:

Let's start with movies:

The Day the Earth Stood Still when the alient is at supper and argues the case on why the alient might not be bad, and might just be observing in a harmless fashion

American History X the curb scene, and the father arguing to keep an open mind and question the teacher's choices of books

The Shining it's been a while since I watched that, when the boy meets the little girls, and of course the ending

Shawshank When they toss the cell, and when the warrden realizes he's been had

Signs when the father realizes everything bad that happened to his family was happened to save them

Casablanca when they sing in the bar drowning out the German's. When Rick sees Ilsa for the first time at Rick's. When Rick leaves the trainstation, the ending, oh man such an awsome movie!

I'll do TV later

The Wonder Years...the best TV show not available on DVD yet.
Not officially.

Are they allowed to sell this?

I'm surprised that somebody is selling the DVD series of The Wonder Years when it hasn't even been released yet. Well I'm not surprised that somebody is selling it but I'm surprised that it is allowed. [/b][/quote]
That's been available for a LONg time now. I have all the episodes on DVD as well...downloaded them all then burned them off. Watched them all...what a damn good show!

I believe it was the 100 most memorable movie quotes. Good show - a lot of classics!

"Here's lookin' at you kid" "Bond, James Bond." "I'll be back." "Go ahead. Make my day."

The last half hour of Audition by Takashi Miike - the most disturbing scenes in one of the creepiest movies of all times. Gives me shivers just thinking about it now.
Wow, I thought I was the only one I knew who saw that disturbing film.

The piano wire scene will haunt me foreve.r
