I try to maintain a rule where it will never take me more than 30 minutes to tidy the place up. I.e., if suddenly someone is coming over and I have 30 minutes before they do I'm ok.

My wife and I have the same rule. We figure we could have our home in show-home condition, ready for sale, within 30 minutes at almost any given time including garage, storage rooms and yard.

I actually kind of envy the people that don't give a crap, in a way. They can just hang out and have fun while living in a giant mess. Messy places stress me out, though, so we go pretty overboard on keeping our place clean and tidy and it does take a lot of time with two small kids in the house. The clean part we do cheat on, though, with a cleaning lady every two weeks.

Live in a 750sq ft apartment with the gf and dog and i would say we are a 6.5-7/10. Bedroom is normally messy with clothes on the floor, kitchen usually has dishes trying on the counter as our dishwasher makes dishes dirtier, bathroom is tidy.

I think a lot of ppl keep there house's tidy which makes them seem clean, but to actually have a clean house all the time is tons of work(cleaning ladies are awesome).
