I think the money could be better spent elsewhere. Is Walcott really that much of an upgrade over Lennon?

AVB seems to be done
very excited about this bold part if true, seen him play in a few games for Brazil and he is class

Villas-Boas is expected to be followed to the club by Gylfi Sigurdsson, the goalscoring Icelandic midfielder who impressed while on loan at Swansea City for the second half of last season, from Hoffenheim for £8m. The manager also hopes to conclude deals for the Internacional midfielder Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior, 20, and the Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen, at around £9.5m, despite the player still negotiating the terms of his release from Ajax.

ya they have been ahead on this one
he flew in to London today, announcement expected tomorrow
other potential news is Ledley King retiring (which is a shame) but staying on with the club, and potentially a naming rights deal being secured for the new stadium which is supposedly a lot of money, but we will have to wait and see on that, ever since moving away from the OS levy has said that naming rights would be crucial and I think he basically wants them to pay for the whole thing

Gylfi Sigurdsson to Spurs is official now. Probably paves the way to move Modric.

ya I think he can play the advanced mf in the 4-3-3 behind the 3 forwards
with Sandro and Parker/Livermore/Huddlestone in the holding 2

I'm curious to see what AVB does with the forwards. I guess it all depends if they bring Adebayor back. If they do, does VDV play the right side?

think it depends who they bring in, it's not ideal but it could work
it's not exactly a wide position so it would work a lot better than it did with him trying to cover for Lennon last year
VDV could also play in the deeper position described for Gylfi, I have read some people who think Gylfi can eventually become a deeper midfielder (a la Modric)

Sigurdsson is a great signing, 22 years old, 18 appearances, 7 goals and 4 assists from midfield for Swansea last season.

Glad the Sigurdsson saga is over now, he was hyped up for weeks but reality is 99% of us didn't know who he was before Swansea loan.

I dont know who he is, but I'm glad Liverpool didnt sign him only because he was supposed to be going to Swansea and I hate when managers poach their former clubs.
I want to start out by liking Brendan Rodgers, and so not poaching players from Swansea is a good start. I hope hes a good player for Spurs.

I think Gylfi will be a good player. It looked for a long while that he was a lock to go to Liverpool, but I guess the Spurs came in and offered quite a bit more in wages. Rodgers knows him better then anybody, and if he wasn't willing to match the wages being offered then you have to believe that he thinks there are equal or better options out there.
I do think that Gylfi will do well at Tottenham though. He seems like a younger version of Gerrard with his runs into the box and his great shot.

Wow. Well, what now? He has another year on his contract at Arsenal still, doesnt he?
In my mind they have to sell him. He doesnt want to stay, and if thats the case why would he want to play for them this season knowing hes leaving? Not to mention the prospect of having him walk away for free.
Podolski is not going to be able to replace RvP's scoring.
Maybe its time for Gervinho or Chamakh to shine?

Didn't they just agree to a deal for Giroud, or is that just rumors still?
