I believe this to be true as I am a natural redhead and have a borderline unsafe tolerance for pain.
There's also a study where redheads typically have less of a clotting ability so any sort of injury where you bleed, you tend to bleed out in unsafe amounts as well.
When I had my kid, I didn't have any sort of pain medication or was really offered any because of the redhead thing but they were trying to get all sorts of clotting (I think) medication into me as they said that redheads are known bleeders and were worried about that.
