I just finished Roots on the way home from work yesterday, started A Night to Remember by Walter Lord last night, and once that's done it's on to Desolation Island by Patrick O'Brien.

Johannes Cabal The Necromancer
A charmingly gothic, fiendishly funny Faustian tale about a brilliant scientist who makes a deal with the Devil, twice. Johannes Cabal sold his soul years ago in order to learn the laws of necromancy. Now he wants it back. Amused and slightly bored, Satan proposes a little wager: Johannes has to persuade one hundred people to sign over their souls or he will be damned forever. This time for real. Accepting the bargain, Jonathan is given one calendar year and a traveling carnival to complete his task. With little time to waste, Johannes raises a motley crew from the dead and enlists his brother, Horst, a charismatic vampire to help him run his nefarious road show, resulting in mayhem at every turn.

Just finished The War For Late Night a few weeks back and I didn't love it to be honest. Very slow and plodding. No real surprises in there if you already know the background.

The Forever Hero by Lee Modesti Jr. at a cost of $2.99 on Kindle. Nothing better than cheap, space opera science fiction in the summer.

Brasyl by Ian McDonald - a science fiction novel set in Brazil with storylines in the past (1700's), present and future (2030's), just starting to get tied together where I am in the book right now.
Also reading the Grand Design by Stephen Hawking, as well as chapter summaries from A Song of Ice and Fire so I can remember what's happened before jumping into A Dance with Dragons.

Good so far but only an 8th into it.
Just finished this. It is a spin off of American Gods which was fantastic.
Easy read but still very entertaining.

Just about done A Clash of Kings and then on to A Feast for Crows, I have a love hate relationship with this series so far and I don't think that is about to change.

Just finished the second volume in the Dragonlance Chronicles. Before that I finished a book called "Cold Kiss". It was pretty good.
Currently reading the first Harry Bosch book called Black Echo by Michael Connelly. It's pretty good so far too.

Has anyone read the Mass Effect series of books, I'm positively hooked on the story line of the games and wanted to see if the books were any good.

Amazon reviews say they are pretty good if you're a fan of the games.

I've read that book a number of times. I would be happy to talk about it if you want...maybe over PM?
I'm a guy who reads a few books at a time depending on my mood. Off the top of my head I'm reading "Titans" by Peter C. Newman "War and Peace" and "Beatrice and Virgil" by Yann Martel.

Just finish reading this series...
The cover art didn't impress me, but the trilogy was excellent. I give it 4 stars out of 5.
Currently reading this series...
Only 2/3rds of the way through the first book, and it shows promise of being an even better series.
