we had a family friend who was studying at the Southern Baptist minsitry in Cochrane and told me that my family was going to hell because we were non believers.
so i politely asked him about the path his family was on, were they going to hell? he said no of course not. i replied, then whats the problem, looks like you are taken care of!
his reply was basically that god wanted him to save us and he wouldnt be doing right by god if he let us stay on the path to damnation.
fun times!
as for me? look, i dont care who you pray to, if it bring your comfort and adds something to your life, go for it!
my issue is, christians, jews, muslims etc, all feel their religion is 100% right. maybe one is, but it stands to reason that the odds are against you that it is YOUR religion that is right. chances are you are all either somewhat right or all completly wrong.
show some respect for the fact that most likely its YOUR religion that is a farce. show some respect for those of us who want to pray to a door knob or a wall hanging. if my door knob religion is a cult, then so is your man on a cross religion.
just because politicians cant shake you from their pockets doesnt mean you are any more legit then me. i believe in the door knob, whats it to you anyhow?

It's okay, Harold Camping says judgement only starts on May 21st. You have until October 21st before the earth is completely destroyed.

I pray to the church of 'Capitalizing the First Letter of a Sentence'.
You sir, are going straight to hell.

I wonder how he would feel then if those techniques actually pushed people away more often than not. By the same logic, they would be doing wrong by god then.

Hrm. The Ottawa Sun did the exact same story, but concentrated on Ottawa dumping. Guess they got an idea and decided the whole chain should do the same story.
In any case, I think some people think "one man's junk is another man's treasure". I don't think most of the people that dump junk off are actually being malicious, but rather think SOMEBODY out there might want what they are tossing. You'd actually be amazed at the number of people that go "treasure hunting" through my neighborhood the night before garbage pickup. My neighbor threw away a perfectly working washer and dryer set... he just got new ones because (a) the old ones didn't match his decor and (b) he wanted something more energy efficient. They didn't last an hour at the end of his driveway.

Maybe this junk dumping should be in another thread but I think that if people are trying to dump their junk, they should be doing it at Value Village which is a fully commercial operation and not a charity based organization. If you are going to give stuff to Goodwill and the Salvation Army, have the sense to figure out if it's something they could actually use, give out, or sell.

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was straight from a Jack Chick tract.

Um scoreface, I've read some really good posts on this thread and yet to see another one from the creator himself. You have a choice and the freewill to respond. What happened?

There should be some kinda book club for people who read the bible.
They could get together every now and then and talk about it.
I think it would be best that way, people in book clubs seem to get that other people not in the club really don't want to talk about their book

But doesn't it boring with only one book? And that book commands them to get other people interested in that book.
