The Zoo! One of the greatest weddings I've ever been to was at the zoo, they have a lot of places available for rentals.

No idea how much it costs though, I imagine it is on the high end.

I think the scandanavian center calgary is great but it can only accomdate upto 200 people.

However another option:

I know the Coast Plaza hotel is a good venue for Muslim wedding receptions. They have very good catering. I'm not sure how high the price runs though.

We had ours at the Al Azhar Shrine Centre in the NW. Excellent setting down near the river, and reasonably priced. Had the ceremony there too, outdoors by the gazebo.

Is it really big enough to accommodate 250 people?

A friend got married at Fort Calgary and it was a pretty good venue. He's Scottish, so I imagine it is fairly reasonable.

Try the Glenmore Inn (Ogden and Glenmore). We had our entire wedding including reception there for ~80 people for about $7K.

Included:
Setup/DJ for ceremony
Room (lots of different sizes available as they are built for conferences)
Fully Catered
DJ - All night (included)
All Liquor included in the price - Along with a licensed bartender provided by Glenmore inn
Late night sandwich trays
Hotel room for the bride and groom for the night along with complimentary buffet the next morning

Add extra people but remove the ceremony component and I bet you'd still get a screaming deal.
