I love this headline from TSN:
ARMSTRONG MISSES BRONZE BY CENTIMETRE ON OPENING DAY OF TRACK
I'm pretty sure he missed it on opening day of field

Edit: No, I was not wrong.
Verbeek already wrestled her semifinal match in 55kg freestyle.
Lost. Will wrestle the loser of the other semi for bronze.

Pretty hard to fight him winning the gold when the wall has a touch pad for timing

It's hard to see Cavic's hand because it was under water. It looks like Phelps might have beat him by a fingertip. Pretty exciting finish though. I guess there is a reason the guy been winning gold medals.
Tough lost for Canadian wrestler Tonya Verbeek against the Japanese. The Japanese is just too fast and too strong for Verbeek. She still have a chance to win the bronze medal though.

Canada (men) is playing the U.S. right now in baseball. After coming out to a 4-0 lead, the Canadians have succeeded three straight runs against to make it 4-3 in the 5th inning.
Canada pretty much has to win this game. If they lose, they'll have to go 3 for 3 in their remaining games to advance.

Do they actively stop them from growing, or is it just that htey have a large population from which to find the smallest, bendiest girls.

To be fair they are allowed something like 15 meters underwater, which is also stupid.
|
Can someone explain this to me? Why is it better to be underwater? My physics background tells me more viscosity in water than air means more drag, and at least for your arm movements are mainly exploiting the difference in viscosity between air and water. Especially moving your arms forwards, you don't want to be pushing yourself backwards. Is it just that they have to keep their feet lower in the water when at the surface and that's enough to offset not using your arms?

|
They were saying the device might have failed. Although I think him coming in second is enough evidence to overturn it, if it wasn't working he'd have come in last.

You jumped on one of my posts before I could edit, so I was returning the favour.
Here's an article on the "Goergian" beach volleyball players.

Too late. The Russians were back on the attack. “It was stupid of Georgia to start a war,” Shiryaeva said. “We're big and they're small.

I can understand why the Russians would be bitter, but that's a low blow for a post-game press conference.
Wow, baseball is boring. I have a vested interest in this game (go Canada!) but I still can't get into it.

OK this is odd.
Chris Reitsma is now pitching for Canada. Only a couple months ago, he was playing for a slopitch team against the SW CP team in the Kokanee league on Sunday, and against my team in that same league.
I burned him with a well placed shot into his right field far corner.... then the SOB threw me out at second!
I guess after five "Tommy John" surgeries, his arm isn't totally shot... yet.

Sorry, I meant Okotoks... was thinking of the real tournament in a few weeks.
And I do believe CBC's colour commentator just dissed you, Shawnski. Apparently you guys dont provide enough competition for Rietsma.
