Really feels like ownership is pushing aside the one bright spot in management and siding with Maloney, or Maloney is just carrying water for ownership.

Imagine Treliving and then Conroy both turning down extensions and walking away from this team.

The Fire Don chant needs to happen tonight. This is actually insane
Imagine if Wolf or Coronato asks for a trade because they know this team is going nowhere

"Having said that, Maloney doesn't foresee a long rebuild. He wants to turn this around quickly. While the organization will get younger, it can also get more talented in the offseason as the team scours the league looking for help"
"I don't see this as being a 10-year rebuild," Maloney said. "I think we're well positioned contractually in that we can help ourselves in the offseason.
"He's always a name that comes up," Maloney said. "Keith Yandle is a very important part on our team, and he's a good player. He's been a top offensive defenseman for the last five years in the league. I'm not actually out there shopping his name around at all, but people have talked to me about it. I'd like to build that base, not subtract from it. "We don't have enough Keith Yandles".
Rinse, repeat, fail.
This is Maloney's tenure in any sort of hockey operations role.

The bolded points probably point to why he’s employed by the Calgary Flames.

Seriously. This fanbase needs to go full Dallas Mavericks and start to demand some changes.

It still seems more likely to me that, as unnecessary as this messaging is, Don is the one delivering this to the press so it can't be hung on Craig. That Craig is doing good work and the organization recognizes that. And if anything, Don is being set-up to take the fall for the "R" word.
Only time will tell.

If there's anything I've learned, this organization truly has no long-term plan outside of desiring to draft a star in rounds 3-7 of the draft and overpaying for somebody in free agency.

Imagine Tre getting fired/not extending in TOR and as a result getting the job here instead of Conroy.

Putting your foot in your mouth in some questionable PR interviews isn't really akin to trading away a generational talent and first ballot hall of famer in their prime.

Will be interesting for sure. I can’t imagine they let Conroy handle the deadline if he is at odds with ownership

This is quickly becoming a Dallas Mavericks situation. We need to show our displeasure before they do something that wrecks the franchise.

Outside perspective, the answer is easy. Maybe the easiest answer in this entire mess, toss the PoHo and give Conroy the reigns.
.internally I think the answer is far more complicated than it has to be.

The plus side here is Craig Conroy is Craig Conroy and if anyone can talk ownership into a plan, it's him!

Seems to me like the President is in "bridge the gap" mode now. Taking over the higher-level GM duties as the company transitions from outgoing manager to incoming manager.

I think a "tear it down", or "rebuild" chant would be better than taking shots at any one person.

Pretty crazy that this organization is going to move on from a beloved personality and person in this city to bring in another yes man.
