Staple the 4th line to the bench here and maybe the Flames have a chance
The top 9 can handle it for a period

Credit to the Leafs as they have carried play, but two deflection goals, could be 0-0. This is the kind of game where the Flames can play one period and win. Let's goooooo!

tkachuk has been the best flame other than smith.
the first line started off great but the second period, like the rest of the team, things went downhill.
i don't know if it's fatigue (first game after a roadtrip excuse) causing a lack of execution or if it was flat out being out coached, but the leafs came out and dominated that second period causing turnover after turnover. the leafs were in perfect position on practically every break out.
i suppose the sudden use of that stretch pass was an attempt at a coaching adjustment....
i hate the leafs, but this team is better than the flames. when you look at the d on paper, you think it would be far closer, but either these good dmen are overrated, or the coaching staff don't have a clue on how to build a game plan around these guys to make use of their assets.

That huge save by Andersen put the Flames to sleep.

The Leafs dump it to Hamonic's side of the ice every time he's on.
I really really want to see Brodie back on the right side for at least one whole game this season. It would be a Christmas miracle.
Just as a side note, wasn't Dave Cameron running practice before this game? I saw somewhere that GG wasn't there?

Why did we give up a first for a "problematic piece" again?

There's nothing wrong with the system. There are things wrong with the execution and consistency of its implementation.
Tell me what system you'd use?

15 shots in 2 periods is not going to get it done. Credit to the Leafs they are shutting down the Flames by taking away their speed game.

My point was this happens to a lot of teams. It’s been a rough game so far for sure but there’s still 20 minutes. Big powerplay to start the third.

Because he's 6'2" and truculent.

Would you suggest keeping this great system in place and trading the entire team away, then?

They aren't doomed. Just barely get in the playoffs for a quick exit again if some changes aren't made. This team is too talented to play with no fire and in wrong positions every night. It takes GG 20 or so games to make the right ajustments. Just too long..... Way too long...

This game is living proof of what it is like to be out coached.
They came in with a game plan for us and were told what exactly to do to be our team. We came in unprepared to face the Leafs.
I'd like to highlight the fact that many professional athletes, if not all, love the game they are playing and are generally always ready to play a game. However, I feel as if they are just not expired to play for GG. They don't like the way they are being forced to play and thus have lost their interest to play to that full intensity level. I've had a coach who used me in the wrong way before, I went from first overall pick scoring well over 2ppg, to nearly never recording a point, then the next year right back to first place when I was given a different coach I wanted to play for.
It is time for him to go. We will be better off learning to a coach for the rest of the year, hopefully having it figured out by the end of the season in time for the playoffs. Anything is better than this guy.

Ok sorry but it's really looking bad that this team had to give 2 seconds on top of the first rounder for Hamonic, not good Treliving

Brodie has been the main problem lately. GG refusing to play Brodie and Stone together is idiotic.
