There seems to be a lot of Jake Virtanen hate on Vancouver Hockey forms these days and Weisbrod loved Jankowski in his draft year so the deal is possible.
 Draft:

6th OA - Alexander Nylander (LW/RW) - he is the consensus 6th pick by most mock drafts
UFA:
Sign James Reimer (G) to 1-2 year bridge contract until Gillies or McDonald are ready. Also the possiblility of picking up someone better cheap as the expansion draft gets closer.
Sign Jakub Nakladal
Salary dumps/bury in minors/trades for picks:
Bollig, Wideman, Raymond, Stajan, Smid(LTIR)
Lineup:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Nylander
Ferland - Backlund - Frolik
Shinkaruk - Bennett - Virtanen
Bouma - Shore - Colborne
Jooris, (Hathaway/Grant/Poirier/whoever from the farm)

Giordano - Brodie
Hamilton - Jokipakka
Engelland - Nakladal
(one of our young farm guys)

Reimer
Ortio

I like it alot. I would personally change my line-up to the following:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
Frolik - Backlund - Virtanen
Shinkaruk - Bennett - Nylander
Bouma - Jooris - Ferland

Don't expect a new draft pick to be in the top 6 and I like playing 4th line forwards in their roles.

There is a fair amount of Virtanen hate here as well. Do not want.

To move up 3 spots! Much rather keep those guys and #6. Worst case, package those guys up separately for different assets. I like the Finn, but c'mon.

In my mind Virtanen, as a physical RW, is a better fit for Calgary's roster than another two way center like Jankowski. I still see upside for both these guys, but have some doubt Jankowski can challenge Bennett/Backlund for the 2/3C spot. As we all know our RW depth is so Virtanen is a much easier fit.

I also think a line of Shinkaruk/Ferland - Bennett - Virtanen would be a hand full in our bottom six. Fast, physical with some skill.

Wouldn't want Virtanen. Was and am still amazed that dim Jim Benning took him over Ritchie.

I would do Virtanen for Janko in a heartbeat and I like Janko. He might not be the smartest player out there but he does have speed, skill, size and plays tough. Simply his game and you have a key player imo.

I don't know. Does it matter? It's a fake a$$ line up prediction, and no matter what I "propose" to give up for those two, some people will say it's not enough and others will say it's too much, just like after a real trade happens.

I don't get the love for Virtanen. I'd rather wait and see what Jankowski is in the NHL than trade for another question mark.

Virtanen for Jankowski? Naturally Vancouver adds a 2nd. It's what they do.

Jeeze. Come on bud. Those two players are the players you're going to take issue with in a fantasy thread?

The Blackhawks are in cap trouble, they very well may be forced to move Shaw if they can't get him signed to a reasonable contract. They do not want to be in the same situation as next year facing bonus overages while trying to re-sign Panarin. Anything resembling a remote overpaying offersheet for Shaw will have the Blackhawks taking the 2017 2nd round draft pick.

Hartnell is 34 with three years left on his contract making nearly 5M. It's not a great contract even if Hartnell can still play. He also has a NMC, making him less than an ideal candidate to keep on the Columbus roster come expansion draft. Columbus would not be thrilled having to protect a 35 year old Hartnell. Hartnell has waived his NMC for the time being, and Columbus is looking to move him.
