I'm happy with the return. It's about as much as we could have expected. Also good that it's Washington who should be a team who finishes around 7th and doesn't go deep in the playoffs. Much better than him going to one of the top teams.

I wonder if this means Emile Poirier is a permanent member of the Flames.

I would've really liked an upgrade on D instead of the picks but the return is about what other players similar to Glencross were getting.

Why isn't this trade officially announced by either team yet?

Probably looks better for Ferland.

Poirier has done okay but I think he should go back.

This.

Ferland has outplayed Poirier. It's that simple. Now, I love Poirier. He's going to be ridiculously good. But he got his cup of coffee, he knows what the NHL is like. Now send him back to Addy and let him help his team get back into a playoff spot.

Burke confines his input to critical long term strategic issues like restricting the numbers on player jerseys to 35 and lower.

Have you seen the Caps play this year? IMO, they're contenders to go deep, especially in the East.

Neither have looked good at all, Ferland has played a few more games.

Ferland will likely stay because of his size, but his hands on his penalty shot has tempered any of my expectations

You've analysed and come to a conclusion on a player based on a penalty shot?

Personally, I'd like Sven to be here, playing, until seasons end and hopefully into the playoffs.

Out of thanks. Says a lot about how one evaluates players.

Great return for Glencross, lots of picks in a solid draft year!

Not just, but from all I've seen thus far = 0 hands.

Hope it's nerves, but really doesn't seem so

It's at the point where if you say it, you know the opposite is obviously the case.

That line has brought a lot of energy and speed playing 4th line minutes and the coach has had high praise for them and what they've brought.

Also, Ferland tried to put a shot over the blocker and it was saved. Seems like a really silly thing to downplay him for.

Very weak take as usual.

Take a look at this game in the pre-season where he scored twice against Colorado. Sweet hands for a big guy. Off the mark again.

Caps make it official:
http://capitalstoday.monumentalnetwo...s-from-calgary

Quote:
The Washington Capitals have acquired left wing Curtis Glencross from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a second-round and a third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

“Curtis is a player we coveted and we are pleased that he decided to waive his no-trade clause to join our team,” MacLellan said. “We felt we needed to get deeper and more experienced at the forward position. Curtis plays important minutes and his presence on-and-off the ice will benefit our young forwards.”
Quote:
The Capitals retain Buffalo’s third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, acquired last season as part of a trade that sent goaltender Michal Neuvirth and defenseman Rostislav Klesla to the Sabres in exchange for goaltender Jaroslav Halak on March 4, 2014.

Great, when the league gets to that point of parity, and your 4th line is the difference...

Doesn't matter what level of hockey you coach, praise always gets heaped on those 4th liners. Every coach in the NHL is proud of theirs. I wouldn't put any stock into it.

Woulda liked a little more as those will likely be late picks, but about what I expected.

Considering I watched them play well with my own eyes and heard the coach say as much, I'll put 100% more stock in his comments than yours. Thanks though.
