Finally watched S3 of The Orville and... um, ok, wow. How did Seth Macfarlane get that much money? Anyway, good job he did, that was some good old fashion Trekkery.

I love RLM, but the 'Plinkett' stuff is more often than not too far for me. I don't like the voice either.
I watched that video and...I dont know...all of this stuff just seems too nitpicky?
"There was the reflection of a boom-mic in the plexiglass! They taped black paper on stuff and it was in shots! IN! SHOTS!"
So what? Did it detract from the show? No? Move along.
I love nitpicking Star Trek and particularly TNG to death, its how I show my love, but about the content of the show not the filming.
It's crummy production-value provided a huge element of it's charm!
A lot of those nitpicks are also a result of HD remasters. A lot of stuff you wouldn't have seen on TV in the 90s. I bet you don't see the Game of Thrones coffee cup as obviously if it was the 90s.

I'm doing a semi-TNG re-watch...but I'm not crazy, I started half-way through Season 3 and that stupid video about TNG 'errors' or whatever and now I can't unsee them.
Like...has anyone noticed Counsellor Troi's office? I know its a set, but for starters it looks like the set of a Game Show and secondly...it doesnt have a ceiling.
Unless the ceiling is inexplicably like 20 feet high?
"Its off-camera."

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Yeah, it reminds me of when I got my first set of Blu-Rays for the Movies.
You can really make out the Shat's girdle in Ultra High Def.
Guys...these movies? They've gotta look a little crappy. While they had an FX budget for the movies it wasnt that much and it wasnt that great. You've got to let the lower def and some 'movie magic' iron out some of the wrinkles.
For instance, one of my favourite scenes, ironically, is from Star Trek: The Motion Picture because I'm a sucker for 'ship reveals.'
I dont know why, its just a part that I really enjoy. The slow reveal, the music and frankly I think the ships look sweet!
But in TMP on Blu-Ray Scotty and Kirk are approaching the refitted Enterprise and its all well and good until they focus on the shuttle and everything is completely off.
They look like bad cardboard cutouts...it just doesnt work.

One thing I will say though is that Dwight Schultz really chews it up as Lt. Barclay. You must admit...he did a great job.
He's amazing in his role. He's got the traditional starfleet officer ability to solve every problem at any time BUT he's a neurotic mess like a normal person. So he's able to solve problems while being Larry David.
