I’m not even mad at Hanifin tbh. We got a good package for him and he got a good extension with Vegas. Solid player

Oettinger has been good. That type of goaltending goes a long way in the playoffs if you aren't scoring. Definite advantage if the stars were to end up against the No-goods.

Flames now just one Knights win away from getting VGK's 2025 2nd in the Hanifin deal

If Vegas wins, the Flames’ 3rd rounder turns into a second rounder this year.
If Dallas makes it to the SCF, the Flames get an extra 3rd rounder in 2026. I think two 3rd rounders is worth more than one 2nd rounder?
However, since Dallas would have to make it past Colorado next round, I don’t like their chances of making the SCF so I’ll happily watch Vegas win and we move up this year.
I thought Dallas would be a better opponent for Edmonton but I’m happy that the Oilers might have to make it by Vancouver then 1 of Vegas or Colorado next.

Exactly. The upgrade from 3rd to 2nd is more than enough to cheer for them. an extra pick in the top 60. Yes please.

VGK 2nd rounder and their unconditional 1st rounder in 2026 suddenly looks like a pretty decent return for Conroy.
It's amazing how the values of his trade returns continue to climb after the fact.

2nd is more valuable than two 3rds. Quality over quantity. Besides, Stars win only gets them 8 wins away from the additional pick. Could still end up as just one 3rd from Vegas. Take the certainty of a 2nd pick over a 3rd plus a chance of another 3rd easily

No he really hasn't been. His underlying numbers are awful. The worst on Vegas for dmen.
Even today they were bad but he did score a key goal so credit where it's due. He's been below average. They even moved him away from pietrangelo.

Yeah doesn't Hanifin always struggle in the playoffs?

Hanifin has been mediocre, just happened to pop an important goal tonight.
Let's not create storylines where they don't exist.

They are playing with good teams now. Both Florida and Vegas are cup contenders. Vancouver is really good as well.
The Flames were always a bubble "hope to win a round" team. It is easier when you have elite talent around you.
