It would have looked bad for the whole league.

That's my opinion, but we will never know for sure.

First off this is an Iggy thread, not a Roy thread! Secondly Roy was an elite goalie, not sure if he is in the HOF yet but he will be. Yanked after 8-9 goals in a game? To any hockey fan the coach is sending him a message. Classless by the coach!

Should he of acted MATURE? I don't know how much crap he dealt with leading up to this moment, maybe you do, could very well be he acted like a professional all the way up till this moment and had enough.

Before responding remember who you are talking about. One of the best goalies to ever play the game. Don't recall any holdouts with him due to contract or anything in the media about his attitude. Fierce competitor he was and still is. If management would of left kipper in net for 8 or 9 goals during one of his off nights I am sure his reaction would of been the same.

As for Iggy? Boston's leading goal scorer, having issues keeping up with the young guys? Sure he has lost a step, in Pittsburg he looked bad in the playoffs, but everyone on the team did. In Boston he was great. In Colorado he will be great too. Easy 30 goal season coming up for him. He could get close to 50 on that team too.

I am not an Iggy Homer! He is older and not the same player he once was, yet he can still skate and still has a wicked shot. Put a couple of highly skilled young bucks with him and look out. No longer a power forward but Iggy still has game regardless.

No way means 0% chance, not an opinion or "unlikely" ....

either way, either Feaster:
a) did not know the rule (caught with his pants down)
b) knew the rule could be ambiguous and thought he could win, but was too lazy (or arrogant?) to spend a few minutes to verify, which to me is even worse

To me, (b) is worse.

Yeah, IN MY OPINION there was 0% chance the league would have let that happen.

As if this thread wasn't stupidly derailed enough, you gotta come along hours later with that garbage?

LOL

Arrogance or incompetence. Either one is pretty brutal.

Actually no way is more of an expression...

And to me a is worse. If you're a GM in the NHL you should understand the rules.

Here! Here! Well said. Every year, people doubt iginla and say he's too old and say that time will catch up to him but every year he still manages to put up 30+ goals. I mean, he even played in boston and scored 30 goals to lead the team... A team that rolls four lines like nobody else in the NHL. He wasn't getting preferred minutes like in Calgary and he even had to take a back seat to the Bergeron line at times but he still managed to be one of the best players on the team and in the NHL. He still wins battles consistently along the boards, has an elite shot, decent speed, is physical, will fight anybody, and has great playmaking ability. People can doubt him once again but he'll score 30+ goals once again this year and will likely play in 70+ regular season games.

yup exactly

the NHL isn't going to waive the rules because the consequence is more severe. you can't fix stupid.

Guys, I think something is wrong with my internet. Or else time works really weird in my apartment. I click into a topic about Jarome Iginla signing as a free-agent with Colorado in July of 2014, but suddenly either my internet or my apartment is whisked away to March 2013. I'm not sure if this is something that a mere tech troubleshooting call to Shaw can fix, or if my call will even reach them in the July 2014 timeframe I think it really is. Did they change support numbers in the intervening 17 months? If any of you are technically savvy, here are some details about my set-up:

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 64-bit
Browser: Chrome Version 35.0.1916.153 m (up to date according to Google)
Shaw Broadband 250

I just ran a speedtest and my speed was quite slow...

...but the time travel aspect of my browsing experience had me thinking I was going very fast. I wonder if there's some measurement or setting for speed relativity that I'm missing?

Anyway, troubleshooting tips or a point in the right direction is appreciated. I don't know if you're replying from March 2013 or July 2014, hopefully I see the reply regardless unless things get even wonkier.

Thanks CP!

That all sounds unbearable. I don't know how you manage with all that reading about old topics on an internet forum.

Thoughts and prayers.

Well I'm not meaning to, but like I said I don't know if it's a technical issue or something more involved. I'm not very knowledgeable about the cloud, networking, electricity, or existence.

You know what, I forgot the number 1 rule of troubleshooting: rebooting my PC. I'll try that now and see if it helps. Stupid stupid stupid!

Were you expecting to come into a thread about a signing from two weeks ago and find some radical new information? Perhaps try a shutdown and leave it off, maybe this internet thing's not for you.

Whether or not Feaster could have signed and kept ROR, what all Flames fans know is that the heart and leadership that Iginla showed over his last 2-3 years in Calgary made it critically important that the Flames try to win with him. What a great group he led, which is why Flames fans continue to cheer for him.

It's funny that Iginla is one of them most discussed and argued about players on this forum yet this newest thread is no longer about him. Roy and O'Reilly stuff is entertaining though.

Jarome will be a little slow on the Avs but will still score on the PP. He will also be great again in the playoffs providing them with clutch goals they didn't get against the Wild.

Does Iginla and Tanguay on Colorado remind anyone of when Kariya and Selanne signed with the Avalanche?

Two players that played together on another team? ... that's about the only similarity.
