I think a loss to EDM tomorrow night should cost GG his job. I would be more than ok with a mid season change.

OT, the Flames have won a lot of games on the counter attack. Teams like the Kings clearly adjust and sit back a little more and wait for the Flames to force something, since the Flames are used to being aggressive. Sure enough, the Flames spin around in the offfensive zone, don't get a counter attack opportunity, and use only 4 forwards in the 4:34 of OT. The Kings waited for the guys on the ice to be a bit tired, kept possession, and got the chance....so, time for a new OT strategy.
But with Bennett and Janko looking pretty poor since the break, not sure who else you throw out. Tkachuk didn't look great in 3 on 3. Frolik's missed here too.
The Flames have played ok the last 3 games and should've won them all, as mentioned. Also as mentioned, they've let teams hang around to get the chance for a 1 shot to change the entire game around.
My fear is that they're due to play a stinker sooner than later, and that with the amount of effort that top line put in tonight, JG often double shifted, that they're ripe for a let down, and GG's egregious streak against the Oilers to be a very real possibility. Sickening thought, but its there.
You think this place is bad right now after 3 points tossed away this week the last two games especially, if they don't get 2 points tomorrow with the next 5 days off against a rival, a shell of an NHL team that's given up hope for the year on most levels, this place will go ballistic.

A team that just went 7-0-3 in their last 10 games, which is also a 10 game point streak is NOT going to can their coach.

If he went to Treliving and said that it's not working out with Cameron, it's bye-bye Dave. Treliving invested too much into this roster for it to be dragged down by an incompetent assistant who is ruining the PP. That says to me that GG hasn't done it. Either he's too loyal or he's just a blind d*******. It doesn't matter, it still makes him a bad coach.
Also, I love the excuses.
Lose against the Jets? It's ok, Jets are a great team, we just had the 5 day break.
Lose against the second worst team in the NHL? It's ok, it happens.
Lose against a direct playoff rival? It's ok, we still got a point, points in last 10.
The way people are OK with losing is actually amazing. If the Flames lose against EDM (and by the way how they have spanked us since GG took over, it's highly likely), I'm really curious what the excuse will be.

We helped them get a 1st overall draft pick again and that works in our favour.

Man, some of you people are depressing. Step back from the ledge fer Christ sakes. We're 7-0-3 in our last 10 and are still in a playoff spot after tonight. The PP is the only major weakness right now. Fix that and this team will be fine.

Of course they’re NOT. But I think they should. I can’t stand his system. It’s painful to watch.

I believe the idea in OT is to get possession of the puck, Why GG continues to start with Backlund in OT is a mystery considering he can't win a draw to save his life.

Pathetic effort. You aren't going to win games when you only score a goal a game. Smith cannot do everything.

If the mandated break has lead to the inability to score more than 1 goal per game, what does the All Star break do to us. Zero goals per game?

I think it's time for Treliving to get mad at GG and throw a stick, maybe that'll improve the coaching.

The team has enough forwards but GG only rotated 3 the whole overtime. Rode Backlund until he was exhausted and I don't think he should even be playing 3 on 3 - if you're interested in scoring.

If anyone thought things were negative here after the game I would advise not to tune into 960 this morning as they have echoed the sentiment of the "wet blankets" this morning. Talking about the lack of killer instinct, powerplay woes, etc. Good discussion on the stupid faceoff infraction penalty as well.

When it's this far into the season with high expectations terms like " We're still in a playoff spot after tonight" shouldn't have anyone happy. Something needs to change, and soon.

Team is playing really good overall defensively, and getting strong goaltending.
They need to find more offense somewhere though.

Last night game, in my view should tell the GM that the Flames most definitely are lacking skill.
They need one more top 6 winger...
Without it, the Flames will struggle to score.
Defense side of the game was really good, goaltender was great.
Offense and Power play is like a D-

I won't argue against the 7-0-3 or the points in their last 10 narrative. Because that's just a fact.
But it would be wrong to ignore the 3 goals in last 3 games, abysmal power play, and 0-0-3 record SINCE THE 5 DAY BREAK. At least some of the momentum from the seven game win streak has not carried over; while we're normally really good in OT it has let us down recently.
The good news is that a breakthrough win tonight could help on a number of levels. Barring that, another break during the all star weekend could allow them to refocus, or perhaps cool them off completely.

He needs to throw a suitcase. At Cameron. If we continue to look this inept against the worst PK in NHL history, a change is needed (even if you don't fire him -- just get him 100 feet away from the PP).
