I've gone to "view", "zoom text only", which helps but screws up other things.

Not ready to hit the panic button and still hoping to hear Janko signs very soon but if he doesn't, this hangs on Treliving. He could have signed him in the fall. Jankowski showed more than well enough at camp to earn a contract. And now it looks like Treliving is trying to leverage him into the AHL. If I'm Jankowski I don't see the appeal in that at all. I expect that's what's holding this up.

I'm not sure what I'd prefer, Jankowski or the 2nd as compensation.
Either way, an above average senior ncaa player is not the type of prospect you stress over. Gaudreau was the best college player in over a decade, up there with the all time college greats. Worth the panic.
This guy, while not a bad prospect is probably a 2nd rounder in a redraft.

Already touched on several times in this thread: he's four years more developed than the unknown quantity that is a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft. For a team in our position that is much more advantageous.

Yeah but what's more valuable to this team? Another mediocre center prospect or mystery box?

There are lots of people who don't think Jankowski is a mediocre prospect.

2nd round picks have a lot of trade value.

Nowhere did I say a 2nd round lacks value. We also already have several of them in the chamber too.
I said if you're comparing it to Jankowski, we currently have a guy four years more developed than an unknown 2nd round pick would be.
You're suggesting you'd rather take the pick?

If Janko doesn't sign, Feaster's failure with that pick will simply be complete. The fact that there is even a chance he might not sign and that he has options to consider is why you don't take a long term project with your first round pick in that situation. It's one thing to be in this spot with a 4th round pick you hoped would maybe turn into something special, but it's another to have to go through this cause you went off the board in the first round knowing it would take time to develop and knowing if it did (or at least should have know) this could be the outcome.
Regardless what happens, the fact that Janko has some decisions to make right now is why it was a dumb dumb pick in that slot in the first place.

I'm fine not rehashing, as long as people don't start blaming the new management team for the previous ones mistakes.

I still think that it is still premature to be calling it a mistake.

Well I was responding to a post that was talking about a scenario where the player doesn't sign. So all my comments were centred around that situation, which obviously, is premature to present as a fact, given we don't know the outcome.
That said, even if this works out, he signs, becomes a good player..........does that necessarily mean it wasn't a mistake. What's that saying, blind squirrelles eat nuts too, but only at nigh time, or if it's dark, don't feed them past midnight, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry?

Who's his agent?
I don't think we have anything to worry about. I'm sure the Flames made a very generous offer knowing he could only get so much on an ELC wherever he signs. I'm also fairly sure they would have said "take your time over Easter weekend & get back to us by Tuesday."
I just wonder if he's assigned to Calgary or to Stockton.
