They might be 2 years away from being legit World Series contenders, but they are not 2 years away from the playoffs. And playoff experience is a big step towards WS contention.
The current wild card standings:
BOS: +2
HOU: ---
CLE.: -1
TOR: -3.5
The Jays are better than BOS and better than CLE. And they are at least competitive with HOU.
You don't have to mtge the future to help the team out this year. One bulpen arm, to push the others down the list, is probably enough.
When you have these kinds of seasons from Guerrero, Semien, Ray, and Hernandez, you have to show them support. Especially when the team is this close to getting over the hump.

Counterpoint: Jays have top 10 numbers against lefties in the majors with a team .753 OPS. Either way the Jays have the ability to win any night. They just need a bullpen that isn't complete dog####.

I'm fine with losses. Nobody is going to go undefeated. I'm even ok with losing the odd game they should win because it happens. What annoys me is how many games already they've gifted to the opposition and how many of those have been due to poor managerial decisions.

Winning 8 to 10 in a row would be nice but it's not very likely.
A more realistic expectation would be a 30 or 40 game stretch where they play .650 to .700 baseball. 20-10 or 27-13 for example.
Not gonna happen with this bullpen performing the way it has been though.

Hard to go on a long streak when you have
a) a fundamental flaw in the lineup (the bullpen), and
b) a manager that throws a game away every couple weeks or so.

Judge has a punchable face. He's also overrated.
Lets go Jays!

You know other teams are taking notice when they're pitching scared. Montgomery started this game nibbling.
Positive AB to get the Sac fly. But lets get a big hit and make him pay for the walks.

Ugh. 1 is better than none I guess. Too bad they couldn't put up a big number there.

Yeah probably some eh? This is his first start with Adams but I think he's pitched to 4 different catchers so far this season. All of them inexperienced. Amazing how important it is to have a steady presence behind the plate.

Should have been strike three on Gardner.
