If the toilet you're going to only has 2 stalls, you're going to the wrong one. The washrooms in the corners have about 6 stalls in them.

The new building will have a greater number of smaller washrooms, and it looks like there will be one stall for every 2-3 urinals in each.

And the current tour was a stadium tour. We had no chance regardless of the arena.
Was it all stadiums, though? I thought he played Rogers Arena in Edmonton and a lot of other medium sized cities?

With the Wranglers moving to Calgary, the Saddledome is now the third busiest arena in the NHL. So... umm... how many more concerts do we really need?
The Wranglers are drawing like 2k a game, most of which are season ticket holders paying like $7 a ticket, lol. That's like $14000 a game in revenue, it must cost close to that to keep the lights on and staff the Dome, no?

And aren't the hitmen a complete non draw these days as well? I know they had their day when you'd see 7-12k regularly, but I'd heard they're way down to the 2-4k range now, too.

They could just put a toilet seat on each urinal and increase toilet availability exponentially. I don’t know how that would work physically, but I guess you’d just lean back on them and do your business.

Eh, I got no “puck luck” as they say, so they usually just end up on the floor.

Don't forget about the sinks, like they do in Edmonton.

His most-recent tour was all stadiums and he only played Skydome and BC Place in Canada.

His previous Canadian tour was in the fall of 2019 and that was an arena tour where he played multiple shows in each of Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. With that schedule, I'd say it's safe to say he would have played Calgary if the Saddledome had been able to accommodate him.

I had to pinch a loaf at the game something fierce one time. Spicy hot wings earlier in the day bit me. I trot off to the ####ter and it had one handicapped sized toilet stall. Well someone had booted the door out past the lock so it was swinging the wrong way and I couldn't lock it. I also couldn't reach it to hold it closed. Buzzer goes to end period. Probably a dozen people opened that door to se me mid loaf. All I could say is this seats taken. Pretty funny now, wasn't great then.

So just did a quick internet search from hockeydb and couple other sources.. here's what I found:

Year Team Avg Attendance Rank
2018-19 Stockton 3,690 28/31
2019-20 Stockton 2,781 31/31
2020-21 Stockton 0
2021-22 Stockton 1,713 30/31
2022-23 Calgary 3,401 28/32

Year Team Avg Attendance Rank
2017-18 Hitmen 7,579 2/22
2018-19 Hitmen 7,363 2/22
2019-20 Hitmen 6742 2/22
2020-21 Hitmen 0
2021-22 Hitmen 4,777 3/22
2022-23 Hitmen 3,821

Year Team Avg Attendance Rank
2017-18 Flames 18,905 8/31
2018-19 Flames 18,501 10/31
2019-20 Flames 18,751 6/31
2020-21 Flames
2021-22 Flames 14,284 25/32
2022-23 Flames 17,718 14/32

Hitmen have been on a continual downward trend for about 10 years and yeah at their peak they hit 10,000 avg / game.

Calgary's AHL team always seems to struggle attendance wise, kind of weird.

Flames seem to do well actually attendance wise relatively speaking except the last two years but tough to see how covid isn't a factor last year. Really this year they are only slightly down from years past in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe Calgary is a bit oversaturated for hockey, dunno. Maybe any losses for having Stockton move to Calgary or playing in front of so few fans in Calgary as opposed to a theoretical better market are offset by the logistics / operating cost losses of having your farm team in California / elsewhere and instead in the same building.

One thing that I find very interesting is how well the Lightning do. I didn't realize they are at or near the top of attendance every year for the past few years which a) proves that hockey can work in Florida IMO and b) proves that it's pretty much just all about winning at the end of the day.
