This comment from THN article, though might be more likely Antoine Roussel imo:

"Derek Jung
Substitute:
- “Jay Beagle” for “Troy Brouwer”
- “Vancouver Canucks” for “Calgary Flames”
- “Brock Boeser” for “Matthew Tkachuk”

Republish in two years."

That really annoys me. I mean, we all know that paper is 99% garbage, but that is just mean and unnecessary. It's crap like that that make players pause when considering signing in certain markets.

Stay classy, Calgary Sun.

Boo hoo. A man that got paid millions of dollars to play a game poorly and far below expectations may get his feelings slightly hurt.We just can't have that...

I'm glad Brouwer won't be on the team, but that Sun headline is pure trash. Show some f'ing class. Hopefully whomever decided to approve that headline gets raked over the coals for it.

So it's open season on rich people? Get real. Class, humility and manners cost nothing.

That headline is garbage, and makes us look like a second rate city. We need to portray a classy image to attract the best talent.

I may actually write the Sun to complain about that headline. Totally unnecessary shot at a player who is likely already feeling terrible, and who had planned to make Calgary his permanent home.

He's not a bad person, just could't meet the expectations the team had based on the contract he signed (and that's Treliving's mistake). In fact, if not for the contract and the Flames' cap situation, he might have otherwise still been on the team this year.

Lol I think people are entitled to their opinions, you don't like the headline, don't read it.

Sun newspaper = low-class
The state of "newspaper reporting" in this city is nothing short of tabloid junk.

I've wanted Brouwer gone as much as anyone else, I actually didnt think it was going to happen this year because I truly felt that if he were used by a coach who knew what he was doing that he could be a useful player despite his contract.

Similar to Stajan. He was overpaid but he was a loyal and useful soldier.

But that headline makes me cringe.

Mistakes were made. His contract was too much, his performance was too poor and ultimately when management indicated that mental fragility and leadership were lacking his intangibles were called into question and basically put the writing on the wall.

But we're not Edmonton. Best of luck to Brouwer, hes had a good career and maybe he'll continue it, but it wont be here.

I regret some of the mean things I've said about him during his time here, although they were grounded in his admittedly poor level of play, but still, its done, its over, mistakes were made and now everyone goes on with their lives. Him a little richer and us a little happier hoping to see an improved team and no more Brouwerplay.

Yeesh. I was as big an advocate of buying Brouwer out as anyone but even I think that's unnecessary. Low Class.

I agree this is needless drivel from the Sun, however, he'll be fine as he cashes his sizeable cheques and likely get's another shot somewhere else....he's a big boy.

How exactly does one not read a headline?

Sure he's a big boy, but a city wide publication running him out of town, of which his children and wife have to see can cut pretty deep. It was uncalled for.

If I don't like a headline (that I have to read to judge whether I like it or not),
don't read it.

Got it.

He's still a human being, do you think its fair for his family to see something like that? How would you feel if your kids saw a headline saying "Get outta here" with you on the front page.

The Sun is a garbage newspaper anyways, but this kind of garbage negatively effects the team in more ways.

Didn't we just talk about the treatment of players in Edmonton after that Lucic article, and we laughed and laughed and laughed.

Calgarian's should be way classier then this.

They might as well have put up a headline "So long and thanks for nothing", or "you are the 1%, elitist dog and you have been explelled". Of "Hey Troy, F you"
