I didn't get to watch the Bayern game and don't get to watch them often enough so Locke you may know better. But checking the box score and seeing Boateng sent off, it is my opinion he is more of a liability than help. I haven't seen enough of their play recently but when I was able to follow closer his defending has been spotty

He is a liability because he wants to play CB but he also wants to attack so he has a tendency to get caught out as hes no Hummels.

It really depends on what you want, I find Boateng to be an excellent player when hes got his job in his head and he does it. If he wants to be a no-nonsense CB, he can do that if he puts his mind to it, but he tends to get out of position sometimes and then he does stupid things.

I didnt get to see today's game, but I'm betting he tackled someone as they were running by him because he was too far up.

Celtic squad that qualified cost £15m. Chelsea squad that didn't qualify cost: £350m. Man City squad that didn't qualify cost: £400m.

Where do you get these figures? Are these strictly wage costs or do they include transfer fees as well?

yeah, that was a nice goal ... but horrible defending too. First Scholes makes the mistake and then the guy has way too much space to shoot. Not really important though, United played as if it was a friendly and still could have scored a few (the Cluj goaltender was great!).

Great for Celtic to go through, that Barca win (after the heartbreak loss in Barca) was the biggest win in the last 5 years or more for Scottish football.

Plus, the 125th year of the club.

Even more delicious, with with enemies Rangers down in the third division.

Hopefully some of their supporters can catch Celtic in spotlight of prime time, in the final 16 of Europe, in between getting ready for performing in front of 4000 people in Clyde at lunchtime on a Saturday, or trying to figure out how to get past the world renowned side of part timers from Peterhead who they drew earlier this year.

Bad move on Vilanova there, the next league game has more importance than this CL game
Quote:
The final Group G game was meaningless to Barcelona, forcing coach Tito Vilanova to defend his decision to send Messi on as a 58th-minute substitute.

Messi, 25, is trying to equal a 40-year-old scoring record held by Gerd Muller and is one goal shy. He has scored 84 goals in 2012 and has four games to catch Mueller, who scored 85 in a calendar year.

Vilanova denied that played a part in his selection.
Only thing I got right? What about the part where they didnt win? I was right about that too.

Not really CL news:

Quote:
UEFA has confirmed that Euro 2020 will take place across a number of cities on the continent rather than in a single country or two host nations.

"A Euro for Europe follows an initial idea by UEFA president Michel Platini. The response has been extremely positive from all the national associations.''

The format and number of cities that will be involved in the tournament will be decided by UEFA's National Team Competitions Committee. It is believed matches will be held in 12 or 13 different countries, with the final stages all taking place in one venue.

Well thats neat. Insane, but neat.

Of course, the Brits would want the final to be at Wembley.

UEFA (specifically Platini) knows what their cash cow is, there's a reason the CL final is there 2 out of 3 years, especially after Fifa handled the 2018/2022 WC bids

also, there's only like 5 stadiums it could be in

Wembley/Nou Camp/Bernebau/Allianz/San Siro

Lisbon, Cardiff.

I also really like Dortmund's stadium. Don't forget Stade de France although it would have already hosted the 2016 final.

I like the Allianz but Dortmund's Westfalenstadion is pretty sweet as well.
