Ya, I called it many moons ago that the launching truss was so speedy that it would beat the station to itself. Hopefully they can take advantage of the nice weather and get the few remaining piers poured and then get started on pouring the station.

With all the blowing going on, lots of people will want to get off at that station.

As long as the headways aren't too large...

When I was walking through there Mon. afternoon, it appeared to me that there are only a few piers left to go. After the launching truss gets through Sunalta, it should be quick sailing towards Crowchild.

Ya, I think as of now there is only 1 or 2 of the regular piers left to pour, and then just the ones after the c-train goes over e/b Bow Tr. (I think they have half of one of those poured)

Noticed they were putting up permanent curbs on the new Bow alignment yesterday(west of 33rd).

I just want to say I enjoy the pictures in this thread, and I am truly impressed with how quickly they are building the LRT line. Every time I drive downtown (about once a week), I’m floored by how much further along the elevated span is.

Not sure if we need a bar. I'd be plenty pleased with draught beer.

Yeah, apparently it was a case of the station work moving too slowly due to the weather this "summer." Not necessarily the concrete work, as that is rather weather independent, but other aspects of the station.

The night work is expected to be on and off until December. Amazingly, I think our newborn is getting used to the constant sounds of construction.
Our backyard over looks the temporary bridge on 17th Ave just east of 69th Street. Great times right now. From my West LRT newsletter:
Crews are beginning to work through the night in various areas throughout the construction zone, including tunnel construction near 37 Street S.W. and 69 Street S.W. The City does keep night work to a minimum and allows it only when the nature of the work requires it. Increased night work is expected as December approaches.
- On Thursday, September 30, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., southbound 42 Street S.W. will close from 17 Avenue to 15 Avenue. Pedestrian movements will be maintained through the closure. This lane closure is necessary for utility work. Traffic can access 15 Avenue S.W. from 45 Street and 37 Street.
- Night Work: On Thursday, September 30, from 6:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. and Friday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., eastbound and westbound 17 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between 37 Street and 39 Street. These lane closures are necessary to accommodate LRT tunnel construction. Expect noise during Thursday night and traffic delays through construction.
- Night Work: From Friday, October 1, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 3, at 5 p.m. eastbound and westbound 17 Avenue S.W. will be reduced to one lane between Costello Boulevard and Sarcee Trail. This lane reduction is necessary to accommodate utility work. Delays are expected. Expect noise during Friday night.
- Night Work: On Friday, October 1, and Saturday, October 2, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., nightly, 17 Avenue S.W. will close to traffic just east of 69 Street S.W. This closure is necessary to accommodate utility work. Expect noise through Friday and Saturday nights. Detours will direct motorists accordingly.

There's a new podcast from CBC's Calgary Eyeopener with an update on the West LRT project, including some interesting discussion about the big yellow launching truss.
Starts at 7:00 and ends at 12:00

Also, here's a picture by kw5150 on SSP.

Why is that pit so massive? Didn't think that station was that big.

Oh, and to the right of that picture, it extends WAAAAY further. That picture is deceptive, Table... the size of hole in the ground for that station right now would blow your mind.
I get to watch that pit everyday. In fact, my car tires have had many souveniers from all that construction going on in that area, damnit.

I'm still amazed that Bow Trail (between 33rd and 29th Ave) Hasn't fallen into the giant trench they're dug right alongside the road. While most of the cut/cover work has long sloping edges on the sides, this particular area has a sheer vertical side on the side that borders the new Bow alignment. (if that makes any sense).
One good rainfall and I can see Bow just caving into the trench.
