- 2nd goal, Kassian lets his man Larsson walk in and score, Ryan was also nearby but didn't do much of anything.
- 3rd goal, Kassian gives the puck away outside the Oilers blueline which gets to Blackwell, who skates through Barrie and Ceci like they're pylons and roofs the backhand.
4th goal, Wenneberg has the puck at the dot, Russell goes down to block a shot that isn't happening, takes himself out of the play and slightly screens his own goalie, Wenneberg then shoots and the shot goes under the pad of Skinner, another goal he probably should have had. The rebound would have been put in anyways as McDavid clearly has no idea how to play defense in front of his own net, leaves his guy right in front of Skinner ready to knock in any rebound.
So, really.............the misleading SN headline should have been something like
'Oilers vets and goalie let down youngsters in loss to Kraken'.

Always felt the 'Ryan Nothing Happens' moniker was rather fitting.

Did McDavid remember to at least show some of that great leadership he is known for by scowling at his teammates who made mistakes?

Can you believe someone let this guy publish and sell a book on the Battle of Alberta? Can't imagine how Oilahz slanted that narrative was. Not that I would ever touch it to find out. I'll gladly use a stack of them for my wood fireplace though.

Will be giving myself one of these beautiful away jerseys for Christmas (must grow the collection). Torn between Monahan and Lucic right now.

I am still stunned he was not only a member, but once president of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
Cannot even fathom how this amateur could backfall into such a prestigious title.

You don't get to be president of an organizaton like that by being the best at your job. You get it by being just good enough to keep your job, and using your spare time to become the best at office politics.
I've seen it happen in a number of writers' organizations.

When you have first year expansion team fans putting things into perspective for you, you know you've failed.
Spector really epitomizes what's wrong with oiler fans in that tweet though. Can only see things from a narrow perspective that serves a biased narrative while completely losing sight of the fact that every team deals with the same struggles your team does
This is what "journalism" has come to. Superfans posting drunken Twitter apologist rant articles under a national network handle.
Surely there was a time when writing this crap would get you canned.

I have a very interesting book, Deceptions and Doublecross: How the NHL Conquered Hockey, by Morey Holzman and Joseph Nieforth. It's filled with quotes from newspapers a century ago, when the NHL was just getting started and battling with other leagues for control of the Stanley Cup. The writing was more colourful, but just as biased and frequently as foolish.

Just have to reiterate how amazed I am with this Flames team. I underestimated this group, but they are playing so well, and are picking up points as often as possible. What's great is seeing Tkachuk put up points, be the high skill players we know he is, agitate, and dominate 5 on 5. Just awesome.

That’s the Anaheim squad I have been expecting for a few years. I can see their reign slowing evaporating over our group. They dominated us for so long. However that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.
The flames are rolling. Their confidence as a group must be at an all time high.
I hope that confidence is the edge they need for the bigger more dangerous groups out there.
I want this team to win a championship desperately. I don’t want to have to continually say the only way to get elite talent is at the top of the draft.
We have a lot of depth and are in a position to add something.
It’s also good to see Monny playing better of late. I still think he’s a negative assets as of now but he could overcome that if he keeps up this type of play he showed last night. Mind you Getz who owns us, wasn’t playing so they were who I thought they were. Getz isn’t what he used to be but he’s still a top center in this league.
If really feel that the conditioning of this squad is vastly improved over years past. Only the Hartley squad seemed to be as fit. This group is a better group all around.
They are really surprising me and I’m happy to eat crow and pay up for the bets I made earlier.
Carolina on Thursday will be a real good rest but I think we lose just because teams coming back from long road trips usually do lose that first game back at home but I’m not fully counting this group out. They are playing like they all get the bigger picture. One more good finisher could really compliment this group. Toffoli or Kravtsov please.
And man what an acquisition of Vladar. That guy is a gamer. We have a Jennings contender tandem. When was the last time we could say that? Feels good to say.

No questions about his GAF or commitment this year, the guy wants to win, here, now.
Ducks colour crew were commenting on it during the game, ~4 mins gone in the second period, down one goal and Johnnys line comes off the ice just before a flames ozone start. Ducks crew remarking on Tkachuk visibly chomping at the bit to be back out there and even the score up.
Ducks PBP also made a few passing comments about Eakins trying to shelter Zegras from Chucky.

Lol from the moment we acquired him I get ragey when he's tossed into prepositions involving buyouts or shedding assets to get rid of his salary. Like, #### that.. lets keep Looch and keep signing him to Thornton style 1 yrs til he calls it a career.

People always say you need at least one top-3 pick on your roster if you want to win a championship.
Who would have imagined that the key to everything would be Erik frickin' Gudbranson?

While this is definitely a thing, the Flames won both of their games after the two long road trips: 4-0 over Philly, after the 7 gamer, and 5-2 over Chicago, after the 5 gamer

Not sure where to put this. Thought it would be relevant since it relates to last game.
