As for the second point in the post (the one I assume you're referring to), yes it sucks that close calls are reviewed and sometimes reversed. But they are. We now have replays. Complaining about that isn't an argument, it's simply an opinion. And doesn't change the fact that they got the call right.
Well no...he didn't miss the point, Foss did. The original post was about reviews, not about letter of the law.

And you are mistaken, offsides have never been called this way because refs have never had access to slow motion replay. That's the whole point. People prefer small amounts of human error to awful and frequent delays to the hockey game.

And complaining about replays is an argument. It is an argument for why they suck and are ruining otherwise great playoffs. And the fact they got the call right doesn't change any of that.

Cecil...I can live with human error, live, in real time, but, the rule for the challenge DOES currently exist...

My complaint about Hitchcock was this quote: "When you play against the defending Cup champions, you are going to have to fight through a lot of stuff...If we expect to beat Chicago in this series, we are going to have to fight through more than just Chicago. They are a hell of a hockey club...there are other elements, that we are going to have to fight through..."

The bolded is what I am throwing the BS flag at...an indirect swipe at the league and it's officials. The 'Hawks HAVE been on the losing end of the majority of review calls, this season. I think the blanket implication that the league plays favorites, is both incorrect, and wrong, in this case. If you go back to OOT threads where I was able to post during the games, I was usually shocked, if the refs or Toronto, gave a call to the 'Hawks on the road. The tendency appeared to be close calls go to the home team. In this case it didn't, to my surprise.

I can see where there is unhappiness about the disruption of game flow, due to the review process...but...there is also unhappiness with incorrect calls, and, if the technology, and the rules allow it, getting the call right is not such a bad thing.

I'd deflect if I were Hitchcock too. Perennial underachievers.

Was that call as weird as the Blues' announcers made it seem?

IDK...the NBC guys never said what the extra minor was...

But, that is the way a finesse team makes a "physical" team pay...let them scrum and muck...then score on the PPs.

The double for roughing?

Awful call.

'Hawks got tagged with that very penalty for interference, earlier this year.

Bouwmeester with a brainless play to get another penalty. A vet guy like him should know better than that.

I get that it's a penalty. But boy that must be the dumbest penalty in the book.

It's the same call if a guy jumps off the bench and plays the puck before getting his skates on the ice...it stops a play that tries to "sneak" a guy onto the ice behind the D...I understand the intent...Boumeester has to have better patience/discipline there.

What a load.

You haven't seen any favouritism towards Chicago over the past few years? I'm not going to suggest looking at anything more than this series because countless examples were brought up with Kieth's slap on the wrist a couple of weeks back. I truly would be embarrassed to be a Hawks fan.

Wedge...if you think that there is a league conspiracy to assist the 'Hawks, then, you are the mistaken one...do they get a lot of calls? Sure, when you can dominate possession, you DO get the calls more often. But, even 'Hawk haters, like Milbury, and that Yahoo blogger, Wyshinski, admit that those two reviews in game two were correct....

Back to the game...Fleischmann doesn't front Parayko sufficiently, and tips the puck in past Crawford.

Bergland saves a goal, as Bouwmeester had broken his stick, and Anisimov was all alone at the weak side post.

Too bad they didn't call Chicago for it in game 1

The offside thing was the right call according to a dumb rule. They need to either change offsides to a football-style "breaking the plane" rule, or do away with reviewing offsides altogether, because spending 15 minutes looking at whether a player's skate was less than an inch off the ice is nowhere near the spirit of what the league was trying to accomplish with the coach's challenge.

I kind of surprised...Edmonson got a couple of free shots in at Shaw's face, but, only coincidental minors, instead of getting the extra roughing, the way Brodziak got with Svedberg, earlier.

I was streaming on a tiny screen for game one...when did the 'Hawks interfere that way in game 1? They got called for that interference in one of the games in St. Paul, earlier this year...so they are aware of the rule.

Dogbert...the complaint about the review process might be valid, but, the inferences are that the 'Hawks got that call, not because that was the correct call/application of the challenge rules, but, because of an NHL conspiracy, which I think is ridiculous.
