I did! I 'predicted' all of it. She mentioned again this morning how weird that was.

"What are the chances? Seriously, that was so weird last night"

The quality was great, and there was never a buffer. So she thought we were watching cable all night.

Just play like that all year Flames and I can forgive the losses.

The huge stretches of brutal play coupled with the losses was just so sad to watch.

Just play like you did last night and I'll be happy, even if we still miss. As long as the young ones are developing properly in a culture of hardwork and never giving up no matter the score.

Gio played better, but still left much to be desired last night. Brodie = simply a beast. What skating ability and puck control. Just wow. Hopefully no all-star or world cup interest in him - I hope his profile stays low.

Flames obviously played well in the 3rd to come back and win but I feel like the Stars lost that game more than the Flames won it. Stars thought they had the 2nd last place team in the league right where they wanted them and completely stopped playing in the last 20min. I feel like if they played their regular game this game may have ended up 5-2. Oh well, a win is a win and maybe a win streak now? Just hard to imagine with Ramo letting in goals like the 1st one. Kipper let in goals like that too.....every 20 games or so. Ramo, every single game and more than one.

I'm JACKED about the win, but Hudler and Raymond tonight can't really be overlooked.

I honestly want Raymond to succeed, really badly. I like him a lot, and his speed can be really really effective on this team.

But man is he not playing well. Poor guy seemingly tripped over the blue-line twice I saw. There's something off, and we need to stop playing him until he's on.

Hudler though? Totally invisible. Let's see Granlund on that RW already. Hudler isn't getting it done, and Granlund shouldn't be taking faceoffs.

I was in the company box schmoozing with some clients but I managed to pay attention to the game for the most part,s o here are some of my thoguhts:

- TJ Brodie is the best. Enough said.

- Mony looked really good this game, but think he still made some plays I wasnt completely happy with at points, but can't complain too much about 2 assists and that sweet SO goal.

-Gio I thought looked pretty good last night, made some really good defensive plays and was pretty physical which is a good sign. Also had a wrister in the second that he missed high on that I thought was gonna break the glass, I couldn't even really see it, so hopefully thats a good sign his shot is coming back.

-First real good look at Dougie and boy did he come to play tonight, so that was really cool to see

- I thought the first wasn't too bad for the Flames, very reminiscent of last year where the shot total was high but the scoring chances didn't seem that dangerous, and they played really well in the last 2 periods, so it was good to see that for sure.

^ Agreed, I think Gio is just getting his timing and confidence back.... it may be a rough year for him, but I don't think he's "over the hill" ..... I think he'll figure things out.

I'm getting pretty sick of Raymond and Hartley's loyalty to him. The guy sucks and is not effective at anything other than doing big loops. Reminds me of old swoopy (Jokinen) but less effective. At least swoopy would forecheck.

Despite playing over 1200 games, Jokinen has only played 6 playoff games, all with the Flames.

Pretty crazy.

I think the Raymond haters are actually looking for issues to complain about. He played with a lot of energy and drove the play quite well. Until the third he was more visible than some of the "top" players. Tripped over the blue line? I never saw it. But I did see a few good chances he created with speed. And the Flames' top players didn't lack for mistakes. Gaudreau and Brodie made a couple really bad giveaways, Hudler skated into tight coverage a fair bit and Frolik wasn't himself. Bennett had one of his more quiet games.

Does Raymond forecheck hard? No. Not even when he's playing well. Does he skate fast and have a decent shot? When he's on, why, yes he does. His last two starts he's been a pretty adequate guy in his role.

That's a very cherry picked opinion, or maybe one very implanted in some very recent trends. Raymond has hardly been a Hartley go to since arriving in Calgary and Hartley has had him firmly planted in the press box far more often than he's given Raymond top minutes. To suggest that Hartley has Raymond on his preferred player list ignores a huge portion of data and really isn't fair to Hartley.

The fact of the matter is this team lacks a full compliment of top 6 talent and not all our younger players development is best severed with consistent top 6 minutes so you work with what you have.

Brodie deserves a long hard look on Team Canada and I hope he's considered. The fact that he is signed to such a sweet contract makes me happy knowing he's a long ways away from cashing in big time.

I also kind of like how he flies under the radar, but honestly if he makes the World Cup/Team Canada teams, the whole country deserves to see him in the national spot light.

Such a phenomenal player.

Sorry but I didn't see the great Raymond you guys saw. I saw a guy skating around accomplishing nothing and falling over a lot. I guess that's the good Raymond.

This guy was brought in to help contribute offensively and he doesn't do that whatsoever. He needs to go.

I remembered at least two plays we got pinned in our own zone because of the useless Raymond.

You are watching a different game if you could not remember Raymond tripping himself over.
In fact, it is amazing how he does that with regularities in every single game he plays!

Not on the preferred list?
Getting PP time automatically?
Getting a (completely ineffective) OT shift ahead of Bennett which allowed Dallas to swim in our zone?
Numerous offensive zone starts over Bennett's line?
Hartley has a man crush on this useless plug, he tries to throw him out there every single opportunity that has the higher chances of succeeding, and Raymond keeps failing.

BT needs to just get it done with and sends Raymond to the minors.
Hartley needs his toys to be taken away, he has some really strange attachments to some really questionable players like Street and Diaz off my head.

Hartley plays whoever is going well that night. Raymond was one of only two forwards to get a shot on goal in the first. Bennett had none until the third. IMO Bennett's line was probably the least effective all night. And I like all three members of that line way better than Raymond.

And Hartley has an attachment to a guy he plays about 50% of the time, for 10m a night? Really? Did it occur to you that some of those other players (especially Frolik) are not 100%. And, really, his 9 seconds of OT is not some sort of slight against other players. You might argue for Bennett being out there, but in the system played by Hartley, it's typically one forward at a time. Raymond also got less ice time overall and virtually the same PP time as Bennett, not way more.

This is not about Bennett VS Raymond.
Bennett is just one of many examples when it comes to Hartley mindless man loves to Raymond.
How about the last time Raymond drew into the lineup, he ended up with Sean and Johnny for two straight games?

Bennett's line was ineffective and Raymond did not trip himself over?
Seriously, we were watching a completely different game.
When Raymond jumped out of the bench during OT, Hudler was on ice with puck possession.
One forward, lol.

By the way, Raymond clocked in at 14:48 in the Dallas' game, a far cry from "10 min".
Only 6 other forwards clocked in more ice-times.
Bennett 15:43
Colborne 16:23
Gaudreau 18:25
Hudler 18:14
Monahan 18:33
Stajan 16:11

Excuse me for now, I am going to put my Hartley-colored glasses on.

You say Hartley has mindless man love for Raymond, but your theory falls apart because he often healthy scratches him.

He probably thinks that when Raymond is in the lineup, he's more effective if he's given a more offensive role as opposed to in the bottom six. He's not wrong.
