I feel like Jankowski has pretty much replaced Backlund. They play such a similar role now, Janko has limited ice time and he nearly has the same production with scrub line-mates.

I wonder what the market would be for a guy like Backlund.

He had a decent centre who carried the puck better and drew players to him. But you just never know how chemistry works. Wideman and Johnny had great chemistry for a while and they are completely different players stylistically. Heck, Monahan and Gaudreau are quite different.

I would have guessed Backlund and Neal would work out, but I was wrong.

You wouldn't want to trade Backlund. I believe our goals against would go up dramatically...as would our losses.

Jankowski hasn't "replaced" Backlund until he lines up against the top lines on other teams. Yes, he has similar production, with worse linemates (though Backs' right wingers have been a pretty varied assortment) Backs is producing those numbers while skating against the elite players in the league.
