best player not in the NHL? If he's not as good as Roman Cervenka then I don't know if he's worth it. Not that he isn't as good but if he isn't scoring as much... I don't think he'd be a top 6 winger and IMO the Flames have enough bottom 6 guys but because of his size he could be worth it... Personally, I'd pass.

Plays in the Czech league. 2nd in league scoring only to Roman Cervenka. He signed an extension with his Czech club, but per the press release there are out clauses for playing abroad. Former 6th round pick in 2011 by the Canadiens.

Number 74 in this video if you can pick him out

He looks big, skilled, fast & strong. He could make a half-decent 2nd line RWer for us.

Well, in Cervenka's defence, he didn't have a training camp. Couple that with joining a new team, coming to North America, and then having his first and only season being a lockout-shortened one while still being nearly a .5PPG player - he just didn't get a fair look.

With that being said, whether someone is not putting up as many points as Cervenka doesn't necessarily mean he is a 'lesser player'. I mean Pribyl is big and seems like a good skater. Perhaps he would translate much better to the NHL than Cervenka did. This is where pro-scouting pays off.

I mean, Cervenka did out-score Jagr on the same team - I guess by that logic, Jagr isn't cut out for the NHL either.

We have like 3 of those. They have 7 goals between them. How about a good player who can replace Jiri's production?

Probably more specifically a top six winger with edge and bite.

Hello Milan Lucic.

Flames should go after Lucic I think the cost is going to be way too high. Vancouver and Edmonton will both have interest and I could see Van doing something dumb like giving 6-7 year term at the $5-$6M when he should only be getting 3 year term at that money

how about hudler to replace hudler's production. He had an off year, could be had for cheap. You know he is good with the team, and he can be 1st or second line RW.

I have a feeling that he is likely to re-sign here.

I'm pretty sure the team wants nothing to do with Hudler going forward

I don't get the fascination some people have with bringing back guys from teams that weren't good enough. I mean what are you thinking? "Hey, I really liked this guy when he was on the team. Sure the team wasn't good enough when he was on it and the team should be looking to improve but getting a guy on the wrong side of his peak years would really bring back some good memories"

I've heard some on here want to bring back, Hudler, Ramo, Russell and the one guy who wants to bring back Jones. Shouldn't this team always be looking to improve?

Way too soft, and would still cost the team 5M+.
That money would be better served if offered to Lucic.

Of course it should. You improve the team by adding better players and pushing the worst players off the roster.

Hudler, Russell, and Ramo were not the worst players and were not squeezed off the roster. The team was not improved by subtracting them, though it stands to improve in the future because of the assets gained in those trades. If you can bring one or more of those players back without giving up any of the assets from the trades, that's not necessarily the wrong thing to do. It depends on the cap hit, the term, who's ready to be promoted from the AHL, and what else is out there on the UFA market.

Jones, on the other hand, is one CPer's pet obsession. I haven't heard anybody else suggest bringing Jones back even as a joke.

And if Lucic signs for $6m x 6 in Vancouver, what good is it to offer him money then?

I can't see Hudler getting $5m or a long-term deal after the season he's just had. If he's still kicking around in August waiting for a contract, and the Flames still have a hole to fill in the top six, there would be no harm in offering him a short-term deal for similar money to what he was making before.

On a serious note, this team can't afford Milan Lucic. I used the David Perron example a few pages back. Not saying he is the specific player they should target, but the money would likely be right. Even if they move big salaries like Wideman or Stajan they'd still be squeezed for money in a few years time as it would likely take big money and longer term to get Lucic to sign here.
