Not at all. I turned on subtitles and it's only slightly better.

Brucie is absolutely hilarious.
Complete play on those popped collar/roid monkeys.

Yup. The invention of the ethernet connection on a console saw to that. It also brought us pay-to-play game content. Want to have a better gun then other people in the game? Give us more money!
Am I bitter?

Ha, I was thinking the same thing. He rattles on, and I'm just waiting for the subtitles to say "take Little Jacob to ..." so I know what the hell I'm supposed to do.
Pretty good game so far.

Because reviewers lack originality themselves. I nearly choked when I read about how the script of GTA IV was Oscar worthy... GTA's storyline is so derivative it's rather disgusting.
GTA IV is a fun game. Revolutionary? Hardly. I doesn't really improve on Vice City!

you know, the story for me is the main redeeming factor. Oscar worthy it certainly is not, but as far as video game stories go I'll give it credit for being among the best. Yes it's a total Scarface rip-off (as all GTA's pretty much are), but that doesn't mean I won't label it as addictive.

The biggest flaw in the game so far is the lockdown of the entire city until some point (unknown to me) in the future. I'm being forced to play through the story just to get access to the best part of the game. Seems a little harsh to me...
But then, the story is relatively entertaining. The mini-games are annoying and the concept of "dating" is a tad lame to me. But nothing beats the thrill of hi-jacking some armored security truck and causing as much mayhem as possible. stacking a bunch of vehicles on a crowded street and lighting them on fire was one of the funner things I did over the weekend :P

They do that in the old games.
Anyways there are some pretty damned long missions too, which might be up your alley. Try the Packie and Frankie missions if you have those ones.

I don't laugh at a lot of video games, but there have been a few clips with Brucie that I have been howling! Good times, good times.

Ya, all the games have locked off the cities in some way. I've played probably 15-20 hours and I haven't even opened up the last city, so I see your frustration. The other relationships seem to make sense because there is an element of reciprocity to them (Jacob will get you cheap guns, Roman free cab rides etc.). The dating however you just end up getting sex it seems. Cool and all, but I just don't think it's worth the effort.
edit: and in reference to the funniness, I can say with certainty that no game has made me laugh harder than this one. The voice acting, character models and writing all come together to make a very funny game imo.

The dating aspect seems to open up more insight into your personal story. When you date both Michelle and Kate it opens up more avenues in the story later on.

Is it me or is Michelle a narc or a cop, or just annoying nosy chick?
Anyone yet seen to it that she has an unfortunate accident, and see what happens?

There is definitely something up with Michelle. I think it's going to bite all of us Nico's in the ass hard eventually.

Amusing thing over the weekend. I encounter my first road rage driver. I accidentally rear ended a guy and he sarted to ram my car with his. Eventually I got annoyed pulled over and shot 2 rounds into his windshield. The guy panicked and exited his car, only to be hit by an oncoming armoured truck. Made my day =)
Actually, that's one of the more annoying things. I can't jay walk at will anymore. It's more common to be hit by traffic now. and Cops frown upon you shooting those that hit you with their car.

Yeah, the Michelle bit has a twist near the middle of the game.

The worst part about this game is when early afternoon hits (in real life) and you are at work and start thinking about it - and before you know it, ALL you want to do is hit up GTAIV!
How am I supposed to get work done here??

Most frustrating thing for me is not being able to control the aim function on my weapons. It always defaults to the nearest standing, fully-functioning person which makes it difficult to unload round after round of ammo into an already lifeless corpse, or line someone up to blow their head off through the windshield of their car. San Andreas was great for that.
