Treliving: I called this press conference to categorically deny that we have traded Troy Brouwer. But if there are any GM's out there listening, we have setup hotline.....

Would this open a spot for Jankowski? Different positions?

I want to hear from a legit source outside of Vancouver with news on this before I'll consider this to being even remotely true.
This would be the best day of the year by far if this was true.

If true my day was just made better hearing this.
Jagr signed and Brouwer traded is almost as good as clinching a playoff spot.

At the end of the day, does anyone really care where he goes?

If Vegas ever liked him you'd think they would've just scooped him for free in the expansion draft. I don't think that's a likely destination for him at all.
St. Louis makes a ton of sense if the financial component can work

Brouwer wanted to go to Vancouver (see his quote below from 2016).
The origination of the rumour is from Vancouver. Could be the real thing...
Quote:
|
...The Canucks could find another local boy potentially available on July 1 to help them on the wing. St. Louis Blue right winger Troy Brouwer recently told Vancouver's News 1130 radio he's thought about joining the Canucks. “Family and friends, playing for my hometown, it would be an experience for sure,” Brouwer said. Lacking skilled depth on right wing, the Canucks could use the services of the 30-year-old Brouwer.

Nah, the Knights are thin on the right side. Brouwer would be a good fit.
Edmonton would actually be not a bad fit either.

Brouwer for Boeser. Dim Jim strikes again and leads to full blown meltdown for canucks fans.

If they picked him up it would have been at full salary without sending anything back. A trade allows them to send a bad contract back or get him with salary retained.
Not saying it is likely going to happen. But a trade makes more sense then just picking him up for free.

Considering from my understanding Edmonton wasn't one of the 3 teams to offer Jagr a contract I would be absolulty shocked if Brouwer would be a fit.

That's what I'm saying - with Jagr's signing delayed, the Flames can wait for the start of the season, the Blues are compliant and then put enough salary on LTIR, then trade for Brouwer?

Brouwer 3 years at $4.5
For
Dorsett 2 years at $2.65
Release glass, Dorsett slots in as 12/13th forward for toughness.
Thoughts?

It's crazy to think that the Blues are going to have $16.77M worth of players on LTIR to start the season. Can the Flames eat enough salary to make a deal work?

Don't like it but would do that deal to dump the contract and free up more space when Bennett and Tkachuk need new deals
