Then that sounds like an asset that teams wouldn't pay a decent price for now either. If his health is a worry either you trade him at a discount now and deny yourself a stabilizing influence for Kylington (which impacts his value because he's also a guy on his last year pre-UFA) or you get his early season influences and maybe get nothing if he's injured.

I think the factors lean towards keeping him until the All-Star break.

Seems like Florida is trying to clear cap. Considering the prices for forwards right now, I could see Duclair being available for a mid round pick, could be worth while for the Flames just for the Huby connection.

If the Flames make no other moves until the draft starts, it will add another layer of excitement. Whenever Bettman goes up and says: "There is a trade to announce", I will always think: "Hanifin? Lindholm?" Will make for a more exciting draft, even if nothing materializes (though will be disappointed at the end if nothing transpires, but exciting to watch for sure).

I hope not. Doesn’t offer much to announce it himself with inside info right before. Totally kills the drama of the announcement and doesn’t offer much when it happens right before the announcement. Boosts his ego though.

Its what McKenzie has done for years now unfortunately. Maybe his semi retirement keeps him away but I doubt it.

I will be disappointed if Conroy doesn't move Vladar today/tomorrow.

If the 2nd round pick that is rumoured to be the return is actually on the table, he can't pass that up with this deep draft.

I have been speculating on all kinds of trades leading up to this draft and hoping for the flames to come away with multiple picks in the top 10 to 30.

But after seeing the returns of recent trades so far and hearing how underwhelming the offers are for the flames 2024 UFAs, I would be very surprised if any flames trades happen today. While it’s kind of disappointing, I understand that if the market is just not there right now, these trades can’t happen. Hopefully with patience the right deals will come along later this summer if nothing can get done at the draft.

That’s why you have to watch the American feed, they can’t even pronounce the names of the players let alone know who is getting drafted!
