It is the defense's right. I wish defenses would hold up the offensive players with the ball, and keep them moving forward to use up the last few seconds of the clock, and keep the offensive from getting off another play.

I don't think I've ever seen an instance where the officials actually have blown a play dead when it shouldn't be called dead in the final few minutes. Not when it's totally clear that the offensive will benefit by an early call.

It's okay to like both leagues. I do.

Oh and for all the noobs who missed out on Lanny McDonald before he got banned, just read the first couple of pages in this thread by Rubecube. hehe.
For a guy who hates the CFL you sure watch quite a bit of it.

I have now rewatched that last drive 3 times now. GOOOOO Stamps!!

oh and the stamps give a big FFKKKKK to all you bandwagon jumpers from the 1st eskimo game. Hang your head in shame ditching them half way through the season. The DEFENCE says HIIIIIIIII!!!!!

Oh and Chris Cuthbert confirmed it. In the first game Copeland caught the ball on the esks 40 with 1 second left. If he just went down to a knee instead of lateraling it, it would have gave Sandro a chance to win the game. That would have made it the game of the decade!

No need to thank me, I get a buzz out of helping people.
So I guess you'll be directing all of these other posters to that thread, since you're such a helpful guy eh, Warden?

I just love football period. CFL,NFL,NCAA. Personally there are not many NCAA fans in Calgary. I follow the NCAA religously and most people don't have a clue about how incredible the NCAA is.

That would be beyond awesome to see.

Does anyone have a video of Doug Flutie's drop kick in the NFL his last season? I can't find it anywhere.

There's a couple of short clips on youtube.

I don't thing a FG or drop kick attempt from beyond the line of scrimmage is legal in the NFL, it seems to be legal in the CFL, from my quick look through the rulebook this afternoon.

Really if you are a Canadian/Calgarian how excited are you going to get about the NCAA. I am but I'm a sports/football fan. I'll watch anything and I root for the Irish but also for every underdog I watch. But I have always found I'm the exception to the rule. Virtually nobody else I know gives the slightest hoot about it.

Like anything else you have to have some involvement to get excited. Either it's the home town or you know somebody playing. Or some exciting game drew you in etc. But just to pick up on it out of the blue it's not hard to see why there aren't very many of us out there.

I can relate to that.
I'm a 3rd generation born Calgarian so of course i'm a diehard Stamps fan. When i was a little kid I thought the Michigan helmet was amazing iv'e been hooked since. I'm a huge NCAA fan. I cheer for nobody else but the Maize and Blue & any team playing Ohio.
My point about the all the non NCAA fans in Canada is if anyone loves football then how can they not watch the NCAA. These are the future NFL/CFL players and they play hardcore with mean intentions every snap.
I think as a Canadian if your into the NCAA your either a fan because of your Dad followed a program, you lived in the states or maybe your just a total football fan.
Hey i will be cheering for your Irish when they play USC in their annual game i always do. ND got screwed what 3 years ago against Leinart that was BS.

rube i think all the posts you quoted (except one i believe) were in response to a poster talking about the nfl, defending the CFL. it may not be the place to have the discussion, but on a thread about a CFL game, its hard not to respond to a post that says something negative about the CFL.

It is legal in both the NFL and the CFL.
A QB can quick kick and it can be recovered by anyone behind the QB so it will work best in the CFL since the recievers can be in vertical motion towards the line so they could be behind the QB while in the NFL the recievers can only be in motion in a lateral direction.
It was used alot when their were really horrible rainy or snow conditions because when a coach would call for the play is when the safety was creeping up.
The Stamps pulled it off against BC about 6 years ago and recovered it late in the fourth but the refs were so confused they deemed it an illegal play. The CFL later apologized that the refs made a mistake.
