The 770 muppets were talking and calling in about it yesterday. Not one of them could even begin to get to the point of understanding. They were saying this isn't what the legislation was meant for, it was meant for if an MLA did something egregious. Connecting that voting to remove constitutionally protected rights from Albertans is exactly that was a bridge too far to find for them. So they just danced around in this vapid cloud of confusion looking for left wing activists to blame.

I really hope a few get recalled just to see the heads of the clueless melt.

Oh hey, she's a 770 caller.

"However, the government did not introduce the Recall Act to be weaponized by political activists"

Ah, there it is. Them activists. And that's exactly why they introduced the recall act, they just didn't have the brain matter to realize it might also be used by the other side.

Then she goes on to be extremely disappointed that a teacher of all people *gasp* in a position of power! is doing something to defend the rights they had stolen from them. I think it's pretty suiting it's being led by the target of their disgust.

The last line "this effort isn't about accountability;it never was. It's politics, plain and simple." No, you turnip head. It's exactly about accountability. You are being held accountable by the person who's rights you ran roughshod over.

If you want to play the game, ####ing suck it up. The other team has the puck now, and your defence is nothing but Nurse.

If I find any other FAQ type information I'll try to keep maintaining the first or second post in the thread so that you peeps do not have to look for a post on page 6... or was it page 5?
IIRC, before there was a column here that showed how many votes (or%) those candidates won their ridings by, which I thought was a pretty powerful visual and IMO they should put back. The signatures required is a larger number, but if I'm sending that site to people who aren't as informed about the ridings, they may not be as easily swayed to join the cause as when you could plainly see that some of the candidates only won their ridings by a few hundred votes.

She was elected in a by-election in June, and I think they need to be in a year before they can be recalled.

My MLA's paperwork just got approved (Sawhney) and she has a week to respond. Then they can progress to organizing/signature stage.

Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides is rallying UCP volunteers to fight against the bid to recall him, prompting the petition leader to warn Elections Alberta that the MLA’s counter-campaign might be overstepping the rules.

He went further this week. Nicolaides emailed his riding’s UCP members, urging them to volunteer to help him counter the “politically motivated recall campaign” to unseat him.

“The process to defeat this recall requires a swift, organized and robust response, and we need to defend the mandate you gave,” Nicolaides wrote in#the email#that circulated on social media, and which he later verified to CBC News.

And here is a link to the post with the letter he wrote asking for help

Well that seems deliberately vague. How could one counter a petition except by showing up to places people are signing it to intimidate them?

There is (was) a table set up in front of the Wildwood Community Centre today for both the Recall Nicolaides campaign and the Public/Private School funding petition. I signed the school petition - I want it to pass for the base reason of letting the AB government know that people are paying attention.

I live 340 feet outside of Nicolaides's riding, so I could not sign that petition, but 7 people did sign it in the 10 minutes that I was there.

I can also throw a stone at Nicolaides' riding but unfortunately I can't sign

Operation Total Recall is now showing 24/44* recalls in motion:
  • 12 targeted - Meaning someone has stepped up to be the proponent for the petition (Step 1 in their process)
  • 10 Initial Paperwork Submitted - Paperwork has been filed with $500 payment (Step 2)
  • 2 Gathering signatures (Step 5)
Operation Total Recall is still showing 24/44* recalls in motion but with some progress:
  • 8 targeted - Meaning someone has stepped up to be the proponent for the petition (Step 1 in their process)
  • 4 Initial Paperwork Submitted - Paperwork has been filed with $500 payment (Step 2)
  • 10 Initial Paperwork Approved - Petition has been approved and Elections Alberta is awaiting comment from the targeted MLA for up to 7 days (Step 3)
  • 2 Gathering signatures (Step 5)

It is really exciting to see the names of these MLAs moving to Approved. Sawhney, Yaseen, McDougall, McIver have all been doing a terrible job of representing Calgary.

I think anyone who lives in one of those ridings and is thinking about volunteering should join Caged Great and learn from the Calgary-Bow example. On the job training!

I was really hoping someone would take down Mickey Amery. I saw him comment about using the notwithstanding clause to get their Trans bill through this week, and hopefully that spurs someone to collect the 9000 signatures to recall him.

Apologies if this has been covered already, but how long has it been taking to go from "paperwork submitted" to "paperwork approved"? I'm in Calgary-Shaw and would gladly sign on for the recall Schultz

Elections Alberta has a week to respond to approve or tell you why it was not approved.

Ok great thank you! In the case of Schultz, it was changed to Application Submitted on the operationtotalrecall site on November 9th. I'd expect an update soon then.
