Rick Ball has done playoffs prior years. I'd imagine this playoffs the wheels were already in motion for the Chicago job, but was just announced yesterday, hence no playoff games on sportsnet.
It didn’t really make sense either since half the series had a Canadian team and they all got their usual broadcaster.
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
^^I'm not sure losing a play by play guy is really up there with bad things happening to a franchise or anyone in general. It happens every number of years and you move on.
As long as the video works, my concern with the voice calling it is maybe ~20% of the experience.

Kadri doesn't say it like that. In a currently airing car commercial, featuring Naz, the host doesn't even say it like that and you'd think they'd get it right in that situation.
All I want from Flames broadcasts is to have it sound like a home team broadcast. It doesn't need to be wildly homerish but I don't want an Oilers cheer leader who treats national broadcasts the Oilers happen to be on like regional games or an Oilers (or any away team for that matter) apologist in Hrudey,
Its our regional broadcast FFS, can't it sound like one? Why should regional Flames games have to sound like national broadcasts? With nary a hint of favoritism?

I have always felt the Flames and Canucks sportsnet broadcasts were perfectly done. They had a home team hint while still being palatable and enjoyable for anyone who put it on. Like you know who the broadcasters are probably pulling for, but they also like hockey enough to be just as excited by good plays by the other team.
It's what makes Monster Truck and Dumbrusk to unbearable. Oilers score? AMAZING BEST PLAY EVER I CAN'T BELIEVE ZACH HYMAN MANAGED TO PUT THAT PUCK IN FROM ONE FOOT OUT FROM AN EMPTY NET! Opposing team scores? A travesty when the refs missed a Oiler player's head snap back for a phantom high stick call that they're pretty sure clipped him two minutes before.

I hope the job goes to the best person for the job. Not the dei person. Literally don’t hire someone based off of their sex or race. Hire the best person for the job.. it’s insane people are so offended by that.

Especially when you get one of the best for 10 years on a regional broadcast. We were lucky if anything.
