This. An underdog is just a positive way to say a team is expected to fail. I like expecting to dummy teams like San Jose and Colorado.
The board doesn't stay up late to read ATL for comments about plucky underdogs.

Pretty poor effort in the first, better second and even better third period.
Johnny had the puck on a string and is a legit superstar. So fun to watch him (and Mony and Lindholm) play.
Smith played well -- I thought most of the goals were mostly because of broken dzone coverage.
Lastly, that penalty shot was garbage -- like AC's gif showed, Kylington played it perfectly.
I wonder if Smith will start the next game or will we see Gillies?

bahahahaha!!
it was more like i asked her what she wanted, and she wanted wings... which worked out great playing detroit.... but i made dinner (i pretty much always do). the wings were actually quite disappointing... they were from superstore (we got them free on one of those 'spend more than $250' deals). my home made wings are miles better than anything store bought.
...and she had forgotten that i had plans to go see a movie with a buddy of mine
...so back to a tkachuk jersey i guess! ha!

Gaudreau looks even faster this year, feels like he’s just rounding into form.

Hahahaha, I thought the same thing. If there were a dog in a cage on top of a car in the background, I'd say yes.

No. Mony had 5A on Monday and 1G 1A last night. 1G 6A through both games.

There was a play about 4 minutes in to the first period that really shows how Monahan is developing his game. Gaudreau gained the zone and the puck then bounced around to Monahan. He then immediately turned and fired a great pass to an undefended Lindholm in front of the net. Elias didn’t get the goal but it was a beauty of a play by Monahan.

Gaudreau is having an amazing offensive season. However I have to give him a huge compliment in how he has stepped up his defensive game after the first 7-10 games. He's had so many strong backcheck efforts, with two in the last 3 games or so where's he's busted his butt to get back and break up 2 on 1s.
He's buying in to be a better overall player and that's huge overall for the team.

Rats - I thought he was 1 & 2 last night.
Edit: Right, last night Lindholm was 1 & 2...

On Lindholm's goal, I'm fairly certain Larkin was deliberately pinning his teammate's stick thinking it was Monahan's. So it's funny that the Red Wings were upset about the apparent holding.

My favourite sweatpant saltine from the ATL:
WTF is it with 3rd periods comebacks and the ****ing Flames? This is going to bite them in the ass come playoff time.
Yes, because a team that overcomes deficits and plays lights out third period hockey is a recipe for disaster in the playoffs. E=NG

Actually, the come from behind thing in the third isn't sustainable.
Unfortunately for that Oilers fan, last night wasn't a third period comeback.

Same here. We know we have an elite team and the standings prove that, so who cares? Complaining about arbitrary nightly 3 stars, all star game snubs, these are things that Leafs and Oiler fans do because they're whiners. It helps keep the team below the radar which is an advantage. Also let the Leafs and Oilers send all their best players to the all star game for more travel and more game mileage in the middle of a long season, I'm perfectly happy with our elite guys minus Johnny lounging in Hawaii that week. We don't need to have the media riding the Flames' dyck to know that we're contenders with elite players.

True, however many of the Flames come from behind wins this season (many, not all, they have had some bad starts, like last night) have been in games where they have been the better team all game long (out shooting and out playing their opponents in each period) and just haven't been rewarded for it until finally breaking through in the 3rd.
I'd argue, that winning games where you are the better team all night long is completely sustainable, regardless of when you score your goals.

Weird ATL comment by that Oiler fan.
In the west, Canucks are 9th in points, 11th in point percentage, negative goal differential, 2-3 in their last 5 including twice being shutout. Their last game they barely edged out a win against the worst team in the league, winning in OT against the Senators. Sportsclubstats gives them a 38% weighted chance to make the playoffs, less with 50/50.
Just such a weird team to pick as a "surefire" playoff team.
