Reaves as a 13th forward makes sense
Reaves as a daily 4th liner makes sense if we get rid of Brouwer - Too slow to keep them both on the same line, gold help us.
Reaves does not fit in any other scenario, he's the toughest guy in the NHL but nobody is stupid enough to fight him so its kind of ineffective. I think he had 3 fights total last season. I'd welcome him only based on the above, definitely would see far less liberties taken on our skilled guys with a man like him in the lineup. Would be fun to see him dressed against L.A for example

I think Reaves would be a good pickup under specific circumstances, i.e. on a reasonable deal for two years or less. Also the guy looks like he is in really good shape, i don't see rapid decline.
A CFL players son from Winnipeg.. to me thats classic Calgary Flame material that would add to the teams identity and have entertainment value to the paying customers. The Oilers have 8 million tied up in two somewhat effective players of this type, we can have one at a small fraction of that.

Ryan Reeves is almost like a Death Star out there. If someone messes with his team mate a planet gets punched out of orbit.
The Death Star never survives a single movie because it's fundamentally flawed. Just like Ryan Reaves.
If someone screws with Johnny, some else who can play hockey should cross check that guy really hard in that space between the elbow pads and the shoulder pads. Break his arm, I don't care. Regehr/Hudler the guy.
We should then kill that penalty and move on with our lives.

I'd rather be okay for the Stamps.
Hopefully BT finds a better way to toughen the team.

Beautiful post.

And not for nothing, but we have Chris Stewart nearby. He isn't very good, but he's got a little skill and for a 4th line punching bag, I'd rather have him at $800k or $1m than Ryan Reaves. Ryan Reaves was somehow traded for a 1st a year ago. And Pittsburgh had buyer's remorse instantly. Like they regretted it while they were doing it. It smacked of something they talked themselves into, and they were wrong.
I'd rather pay Ferland than Ryan Reaves, and I wouldn't pay Ferland.

I think I'd rather Stewart as well, all things considered.
Not sure about this one. Part of me really likes it and part of me thinks we will regret it.
At times in the Stanley Cup final I thought the Knights' 4th line with Reaves on it was often their best. I do not believe he is a liability out there but I really prefer we fill the 4th out with young guys.
LOL you guys are nuts, its a visit doesnt mean hes signing here he probably has 10 other teams hes talking to.
If he signs here then everyone can complain till then wait and see
They shouldn't even be talking to him, that's the point. You couldn't watch this team last year and honestly say what they were missing was Ryan Reaves. They need to get faster, they need to get more skilled. They don't need to get Reavsier.
