Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves. It's still just an expectation that he will sign not a fact

I've already ordered my Pribyl jersey with the alternate captain's badge.

So he already knows that Calgary is awesome and Edmonton's a dump... perfect!

61 points would be a Panarin-like home run. Frankly if he comes over and nabs 35-40 points in his first season I would consider it a win.

Actually, .61 is PPG, so 50 points for an 82 game season.
But yeah, 35-40 points would be awesome.

Hopefully the knee injury won't slow him down to begin the season.

Agreed. Sure, he's not physical in that he may not run around looking for guys to hit but he looks like guys bounce off him and he's very hard to move off the puck a la Jagr. Not saying he is going to be Jagr by any means, just that having a guy with the kind of puckhandling skills he shows in his highlights and is hard to move off the puck is a very very useful player for the Flames right now. Excited to see what he can do in the NHL. He looks like a really good fit for what we need right now.

For players that played more than 20 games? Just him and Cervenka.

Not gonna lie. Seeing that Cervenka is crushing him in points sort of made me sad
Even though I still kind of feel that Cervenka had the deck stacked against him in his year here.

I think Cervenka would have been fine if he stayed another year, or if he joined a team that placed less pressure on him to produce right away.
If he was a third liner on the Dallas Stars for example he would have looked more valuable.
Instead "best player out side the NHL" and pencilled in with Hudler for offense was too much for a slight player to adjust to.

Yeah. He should have tried again. God Feaster was pretty poor at setting expectation

I agree with Bingo, if Cervenka stayed another year he would've been fine. With the illness and the family issues on top of having to adjust to NA game he was already in a uphill battle. Not to mention Feaster hyping him despite not knowing what position he played.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gives it another go soon. Him landing on a team like Chicago would be ideal for him.

I actually thought that Cervenka was not a bad player, all things considered. I would have liked another one year deal for him. You could tell he could do better and just needed time.

plus what went right that season?
lockout, Flames fall behind, death watch towards Iginla and Bouwmeester trades and Kiprusoff retirement.
That was the burn it to the ground season. Tough year to break into the NHL

Good player or bad, guy had serious attitude issues, asking for a trade to a winning team.

I believe in the Pony Power

Yeah I have a hard time viewing Cervenka as a failure. There was a little situational working against him but he certainly showed he had some offensive skills that were transtable to the NHL.

All of this and he was sick to start his career with the Flames. Blood clot issues meant he couldn't train at all leading up to the season, didn't get into the abbreviated training camp and missed the first three games.
Guy's a bit of a wuss of a hockey player but he could probably play in the NHL, so many cards stacked against him to start his career. Jay Feaster's overselling amongst them.
