Sure glad people on here think the game has passed Cherry by.
Man, what would I do without you??!
The guy can be a bit off with his Bieksa love and a few other things.
But he adds a tonne of insight, especially at the ripe old age of 80. He is an icon to the game. Some of you just hate how old old he is and the suits he wears.
Maybe just actually listen to him without the old man hate.

Yep. I like fighting, but the writing is on the wall. Especially fights like tonight. Accomplishes nothing. Needs to be rolled out in conjunction with legitimate lengthy suspensions for serious cheap-shots. The direction looks inevitable, and I'm pretty sure hockey is going to be just fine.

Don Cherry's suit looked like ugly hotel curtains and it hurt my eyes. I can't drink anymore wine without getting dizzy thinking about it. PJ looks like he has a wad of chew in the side of his mouth. I can never concentrate on what he says, it's so distracting.

While I agree with what Cherry was saying about the visors, why did he keep saying that Gazdic takes his helmet off right away. Sure he takes it off right away as soon as the fight is over but what the hell good does that do. He still had a major advantage in the fight. Gotta do it the honorable way like Iginla always did. Take the helmet and visor off before the fight.

It looked like a 'you little , you stole my line because you are useless and I'm going to throttle you later' kinda smile.

They just need to end the frat party lifestyle the young guys have been living. Trading Eberle and scorched earthing the entire coaching/management staff might be the dose of reality they need.

The Westgarth incident could have been far worse if he had taken his helmet off voluntarily. He hit the ice pretty hard and his head snapped back.
RE: Fighting
Responsible fighting has its place in the game, the show-fights don't. Injuries are going to happen just as they do when 200 lbs. players slam into each other at full speed. Getting hurt is part of the game and always will be regardless of developing precautions.
It's really as simple as that.

That's against the rules now too unfortunately. Gazdic has no choice on this, I don't blame him

I think he was saying that Gadzic hurries and takes his helmet off after the fight ends so he doesn't look he was a ##### who was fighting with a visor.

I just find it amazing how talented apparently the Oilers are according to Healy and the Flames shouldn't even be allowed to be in the same league, yet the Flames are winning, looking better overall and leading the Oilers in the standings. I really simply cannot believe how much of a fataing idiot Healy is. How does this guy stay on the air? Yet people pick on Cherry? Ugh...

Wesgarth didn't have a visor on. I don't recall Grats wearing visor explain.

Yeah and he says he knows how it is to fight guys with a visor. I don't think there were visors 50 years ago when he played the game.

Not to mention how jealous virtually everyone on here, and his media critics, are of his having such a great gig.
