Purolator is not going on strike, you should be fine if it was shipped with them.

Maybe I only get mail 3 days a week then. Doesn't seem very likely, since I get 3 or 4 things plus a bunch of junk mail 3 days a week, and nothing the other two.

Same, I only get 3 days of delivery from my cranky ass carrier who doesn't understand what "shovelling once every 24 hours" means. I'm sorry it snowed at 8AM and I didn't come home and shovel. Now #### off and put the mail in my box instead of on the ground because you're pissy about your job.

I also have to send something to the US for a return (I bought something off eBay), and if it doesn't get to him in a week I'm hooped again.

Anyone know if there is somewhere I can go to get answers, or anyone have the answers? I assume Canada Post stores (like at my London Drugs) will be closed.
I hope the package has air holes.

I'm in sort of the same boat but my stuff is purely sentimental. I bought some handmade stuff online at the beginning of May for my baby who will be born in about a month. I had it special ordered and special made because this is my first and possibly only ever baby.
It's in the CP system now as it left the USPS system last week. I should be receiving it next week if it wasn't for this stupid strike. Now he'll likely be too big for it by the time this thing is over.

There aren't words for how angry I am. Thanks a lot Postie jerks.

If postal workers want to strike - fine, it's your right!

Just find a way to do it without screwing the public who have no involvement in your dispute. One of the reasons I loathe unions!

Only Winnipeg as of now will be going on strike. The rest of Canada will be getting their mail tomorrow. That still could change though as they told us to come to work tomorrow as if its a regular work day, but to also bring a change of clothes just in case.

When Winnipeg goes on strike the mail volume will be down quite a bit and it may force the company to lock us out which looks better on the unions part.

A lockout by the company is in thier best interests as it will take away your bargaining chip of rotating strikes. The end result is it forces both sides to find an agreement.

I hope they reach an agreement sooner then later. I really can't afford to be going on strike, but I understand the reasons why.

I'm hoping members have money socked away for strike as it could be a long one. Funny thing is the head of your union will still be collecting his or her full wages while you collect strike pay.

From what I hear it will only last a week maybe 2. The government will legislate us back to work.

If so, it makes striking a waste of time. Working to rule and refusing all overtime might be a better way to go.

If you're going to be losing banked sick time, i'd be fighting for short and long term disability benefits as an option. I think it's a better option with those that get sick or hurt on the job still getting coverage.

How exactly can the posties strike without screwing the public? Is that like teachers striking, but having kids still go to school?

You find another way to get your message out to gain support. Screwing the public is not how you do it. A strike is also not gaurentee that you will win. The govt will most likely legislate them back to work and posties will have won nothing. How is a strike helping thier cause?

Then there's the issue of wages lost during a strike that are never recovered. A reality most members forget when voting to strike.

Short-term pain for long-term gain is the goal.
I don't see why they're striking now. They should be going on strike just before Christmas.

Because there is several older people who don't know/don't care to learn how to get communication in other forms.

10 years down the line, Canada Post will be drastically different, so the union needs one last cash grab before major changes start to happen.

Well teachers can implement a work to rule campaign where they go exactly by the book. No extra-curriculars, etc. which would make a big impact. I don't know what that would mean for postal workers though.

Is the Canada Post web site included in the strike? It doesn't seem to be working right now for me.
