We already took a guy like that in Huberdeau. This really stinks of another Huberdeau situation.
 |
What are you talking about? He wasn't great in this years playoffs, but the previous two seasons he had 16 points in 19 games and 18 points in 19 games. Those are not shabby numbers. I would say you are way off base saying he is bad every playoffs.

Johnston and Robertson seem unrealistic to me.
I'd still be interested in Mavrik Bourque as a part of a package for Andersson.

Happens every year, that’s the fun of it. It almost always ends in disappointment, but it makes for an entertaining couple of days. Life is short. I’ll allow it. 😉

There’s just not much else on Dallas that is realistically available and good.

You can ask, but Dallas is not trading Johnson, and certainly not for Andersson. That just makes their team weaker.

Even as a pro rebuild guy I think when superstars come on the market you should go for them. Especially this team. Seems the league is just going to continue to expand to more and more markets, so more and more teams are just going to not have any stars. There aren't that many to go around, and Florida has had about 7 for the last 2 stanley cups. The number of stars you need to win a cup has been trending up.

I like Robertson partly because he isn't a burner. Speed is often the first thing to go when a player ages, so if you aren't relying on it to produce, it could be a sign that the player's production won't suffer as much when they get older. He just knows where to go and is shifty enough that he can sneak into scoring areas or create scoring chances when you don't expect them. His style doesn't seem to rely on a particular style of team play and he creates a lot from mundane cycling in the offensive zone and not fancy plays. I just think it's a very transferrable style and the results could be reproducible on another team. He also seems to have a really positive attitude.
I am not sure if it would be the right move for the Flames or not, but I think he would definitely help the team. It would all come down to acquisition cost obviously.

The latter. People are just putting the facts together, Dallas has made it clear Robertson could be available because he’s going to be too expensive, Calgary is likely to move Andersson, Calgary needs top end talent in a certain age range and Dallas needs a top 4 defender, and Andersson’s contract is super enticing, especially with retention, which could help Dallas pursue other moves.

It makes a lot of sense.

2023 playoffs - 19g, 18pts
2024 playoffs - 19g, 16pts
2205 playoffs - 11g, 6pts (injured)

is this bad in the playoffs, or just recency effect in full force?

I think everyone should expect Johnston or Misa as part of the Andersson return. Go wild. Who cares.
 |
An 28 year old dman, turning 29 in October, will be 30 when his new deal kicks in, Andersson also is coming of a season which is not great. For a 22 year old center, who might be a #1 center

If this was reversed, no chance the Flames who make this deal,

My guess, when the trade occurs, its likely similar to Lindholm.
